Today was wonderful, for one I slept until 6 a.m, then I took the phone and walked outside in a tank top and shorts and called my Mom and the weather was perfect. Heather opens up all of the doors in the house to let the fresh air in first thing in the morning and it is quite something to just walk in and out of the house and on the veranda and not have to open any doors.
Since Simon had to work Heather, the kids, and I hung out for most of the day. So we started off the day by going to one of Townsville's shopping centers. Now Australia wants everyone to stay in one place to shop so they put their grocery stores in their Mall. So you can buy your groceries then you can take your shopping cart (they call them trolleys) full of groceries around the Mall to continue your shopping. Luxury items are taxed so a 2 liter of soda here is $6 and a case of coke is $30. There was a cyclone here not too long ago and it wiped out the banana crops so bananas are currently $13 a kilo!
Food is so much more expensive in Australia, and so far the only thing that I have found that is less expensive is Sushi (which is a fairly new thing to hit here, and everyone loves it). After picking up some groceries and flip flops (thongs as they are known) for me (they have little Aussie flags on them) we headed back home and Heather dropped Emily and I off and took Max to his orthodontist appointment. During the time they were away Emily taught me the in's and out's of field hockey. She is a good teacher because we had a little one on one match and I wasn't half bad!
After Max's appointment we all went out for lunch (sushi😊 ) and then we were off to the Infiniti pool and River Park for a swim. We swam and then headed to a part of the park where there were these big poles sticking out of the ground at different spots and they each had a letter on them and the point of the game was to run around and touch the poles to spell your name and who ever did it the fastest wins, now its tricky
because the letters are not that big and they are only on one side of the pole so its hard to figure out which pole has which letter.
We came back to the house and got ready for the weekly game of Footzle (basically the same as indoor soccer, except the ball is slightly smaller and denser so that it doesn't bounce as much). Heather and Simon had a University dinner to attend since James Cook University Graduation is this weekend. So the kids and I headed over to the Fit for Life Centre and joined up with family friends for this great game! It was adults against kids, and the kids kicked our butts! We had 5 on our team and they had 4 and I think the oldest kid on their team was 12. I felt bad at first because it was getting rough and I think I tripped all of them at least once accidentally (and made one cry, eek!) but overall we all had a great time running around for an hour and a half.
We got back and it was dinner then I had to get Proxy-Connection: keep-alive
Cache-Control: max-age=0
e kid's ready for bed (and they were good about it too!) and then I got myself ready for bed and and ready for another jam packed day tomorrow starting with Emily's field
