So we ended up staying at their girls place in the city for the rest of the weekend and next weekend. It was great to be able to shower and go pee and wash your hands whenever we wanted and use a fridge for food, finally we were able to get some CHEESE!!!! The entire week we spent looking for jobs, we had a few interviews and found a few jobs in the city. Byron found a job being a pedi-cab or rickshaw driver - haha! And I got a job with GreenPeace, which I had to turn down because we could not afford to live in the city and living out of our van in Brisbane didn’t seem like a great idea. So we headed up the Sunshine Coast to a town called Mooloolaba -- don’t even get me started on the city names in the country; Wagga Wagga, Indooroopilly, Bli Bli to name a few of my favourites. It is absolutely gorgeous there and we found it easy to park overnight in a few places there. But Byron got a call for an interview in Noosa (about an hour north still on the Sunshine Coast) for a management position
at a Surf shop!! How sweet?!! Things went well and it turns out the company is owned by Billabong and if things go well (there are still a 2nd and 3rd interview to be held) and they are able to work with his visa then that would be sweet!!!! Besides that we have been doing a lot of surfing in Noosa and hiking in the Glass House Mountains and at the Kondalilia Falls. Other than that we are just looking for jobs and hoping to land a sweet one!! One night in Noosa we parked in a pretty public spot but we saw people do it the night before and we thought it was fine and in the morning we got a knock at the door giving us a warning not to ‘free camp’ in the Noosa area! Oops! That reminds me did I tell you guys we got a knock one night when we were staying in Byron Bay? Well we just didn’t answer and pretended we weren’t in the van and they left us alone ☺ We decided to risk it and stay near some huge park on the side of the street and some guy knocked on
our window and we just didn’t answer! Its kind of a gamble but we’re learning what is ok to stay at. Last night we parked at a national park and were going to get up and leave in the morning but were too tired and luckily no one came.
I would like to admit there are quite a few things I miss at this time… besides the obvious people who make my life go round - my amazing friends and family, I miss ice cubes and ice water, French dressing, Snickers, Mac, & Sammy, hand soap, Sunday mornings at Oma and Opa’s Clover Bar crew, Marie’s cooking, Ed’s omlettes, cheap beer, tip a few, pavilion, Morning Star, Butch’s, great harvest, Snickers, American portions and prices, and YOU!! PEACE & LOVE Byron and Allie
