So after staying in Alice Springs for a week I headed back to Brisbane with the intention of staying for two days..... This turned into a week as soon as I heard about the Riverfire festival happening on the next Saturday. This is part of the Brisbane festival and there are fireworks set along the river and from the tops of the tallest buildings along the river. It was well to be expected :D
Between landing in Brisbane and leaving I didn't really have a lot to do. I met a group of nice English guys and girls who were working and staying at the hostel. I had brought a guitar in Alice and we spent most of the time playing with it. One day I did visit Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary with Matthew (a boy from Middlesbrough) We took a boat trip up the river and spent half a day at Lone Pine, we fed the Kangaroos and force fed the Wallabies (They weren't very interested in the food for some reason) I got to hold a Koala too :D Koalas have a pretty strong smell which stayed on me for the rest of the day!! Hehe
After leaving
Brisbane (5th Sept) I headed back to Byron bay, planning to book up my dates for the rest of my trip as I had already messed about for two weeks. I arrived at the travel agents with the beginnings of a cold coming on. I asked the travel guy about the weather for my skydiving trip as the weather forecast wasn't looking so good. He then turned around to me and said the best time is to go now, i'll call up for you....... This promptly scared that cold out of me....... So I went for my skydive then and there and loved every minute of it!!! The next day (6th Sept) I went out for my surf lesson and was beaten black and blue by both the waves and my board. I am NOT strong enough to even slightly get out past the waves!! When the instructor helped me out far enough to catch a wave I did manage to stand up and I rode those waves all the way back to the beach like a pro :D
Next I went to Noosa where I visited Australia Zoo (8th Sept) home of the Irwin family. They had a load of shows, the main one involving the massive saltwater crocs!! They were pretty cool. There was also an elephant show and a tiger show. These were awesome too.
Now I am in Rainbow beach listening to some really bad karaoke songs. I have a safety talk tomorrow then the day after I am off to Fraser Island! This is the largest sand Island in the world and also the only place where the rainforest grows out of the sand! Fraser Island was made my a really large rock catching sand which had been swept from the southern beaches, if this rock hadn't caught this sand it would have covered the great barrier reef!! Just goes to show doesn't it!!
