Well we have settled in and have joined in some of the “weekly” rituals at the camp ground. Roast on Sunday nights, nearly every night someone has happy hour, bbq or delivered pizza on Thursday nights. Went out to tea with Steve & Jenni on Wednesday night to “Yorkeys”. This is the restaurant at the yacht club marina at Yorkeys Knob. It was very nice and relaxing, with good company. Even the kids enjoyed themselves.

Thursday we had a swim at Peppers Resort where Steve & Jenni are staying. There are 2 pools, one with sand and 25 degrees; the other 30 degrees and concrete base. We had fun with a giant beachball playing keepings off. Unfortunately my toes got cut underneath and got rather sore. Back to camp for a lovely shower and some relaxing time. Steve & Jenni called in to say goodbye Thursday night and dropped off some food they hadn’t eaten and couldn’t take home. Kate put herself to bed that night she was so tired.

Friday we drove to Kuranda and wandered around all the markets. June (Rod’s mum) had arrived home from Canada, so we stayed in the car and chatted for a while. Wandered all around the markets and shops, Kate got rather tired by the end of the day. Drove down to the Skyrail and got tickets for Rod, Alex & Kate. I drove down to the bottom and picked them up. Raced into Cairns to see if any mail had arrived for us - there wasn’t. Found out where TJM was in Cairns and raced down there before 5pm to get another whip for the UHF radio. Then back into Cairns and walked along by the marina and waterfront. They have a huge pool free from stingers that toddlers can use and as deep as 1.8m for laps. Back near the car we spotted the Cairns Night Markets. Off we wandered again, up and down, in and out. Our neighbours from the caravan park saw us there. Finally went home and made tea.

Well Saturday was school work, washing and eventually we got into the fruit and vegetable markets for some local fresh fruit and veg. Down to Cairns Central to get Alex some new boardies - he is growing all the time. When I went to pay for them, panic stations; I was missing my credit card. After working out where it was last used and phone calls to the bank, we got a temporary block on the Visa. Monday morning we will be back to TJM to see if there, if not then the arduous work of cancelling and getting a new credit card re-issued. On the way back to Palm Cove, we stopped for a walk around the Botanic Gardens. They are nice, but quite a few paths were closed due to repairs. At the Tearooms/Café was a wedding reception. Kate enjoyed looking at the bride.

Sunday, went to Port Douglas to look around (without camper) at the lookout and yes, back to the market. Took some photos of Steve & Jenni’s resort just to make them jealous that we are here and they are in Melbourne. Saw some hang gliders on the way back at Rex’s Lookout. Stopped to watch them for a while. Unfortunately, now Alex is dying to have a go, when he grows up! Kate was interested to watch the girl who had only being gliding for 2 to 3 months. Eventually back to Palm Cove to organise the car and camper ready to be off in the morning. Had a roast dinner at the surf club before we left.

In the morning, it was a slow start, it was sad to leave. Brian & Janice gave us their address and telephone in case to decided to visit Tassie or do the Deloraine Market. Ross & Paula gave us theirs so if we wanted any help looking at investment properties on the Gold Coast he would check them out first. Everybody at the camp was lovely, friendly and most welcoming and helpful.
