June 1. What a day! Got 'Weekender' article. This was in the northern Sunshine Coast edition. Great photo. Spent an hour on internet and email. Went to library. More internet. Drove to Nambour. More internet, spruik good. Drove toward Maleny. Stopped to gather bamboo. Maleny spruik good. Show happening. Went in. Spruik. Country stuff, chooks. Dressage. Sideshow alley. Amusements. When leaving spoke to Maree with stall having flags. She loved SC&B. Got thirty stickers and TEN flags - four on bamboo poles. She does shows and fairs all around Queensland. As so often happens I'm feeling the need to move on but reticent. Then when I move the most amazing and wonderful things happen. I wonder why I hesitated. All good. Cole Porter, Gershwin and jazz at Upfront Club. Chilly mountain air, sweet but. Then community hall where hope hung in the air. dreaming a world without nuclear nightmare. Songs of peace on earth. Homage to the mahatma. I think of travelling this wide often brown land, the lives of normalcy in a mad world. Yet flame flickers in pockets of resistance. My love to Maleny.
June 2. Humidity 100%. Early spruik xlent. Rainy, chilly. Brief encounter with Upfront Club chick trying to drive me off pavement. News agency owner likewise. To first I said freedom of all places in Maleny, to the second I was placid. Good fun. Then deciding rugby in Brissie not happening - too, dark, too wet, no TV coverage likely, parked at lookout for sweeping green views. Cold, damp.
June 3. Sailing showery. Nice-ish but. Beer and bullshit after.
June 4. Gentle day. Ladies cleaning barbeques got stickers and flag. Most perfect swim Sunshine Beach. All good.
