Friday 26 May. Spruiking cafe strip a guy tells me an article appeared in the "Gold Coast Bulletin" with a colour photo! I'm trying to remember the interview. Maybe he saw the Coolongata paper. Search web. Noosa National Park, Perigian section. Solid stand of paperbarks. Brahminy kites reported and white cheeked honeyeaters. Saw Brahminy and lots of white cheeks (which also have yellow on their wings). Later Noosa Heads -VERY -flashionable. Ubershopping in jungle seting. Flag uberpopular.
Saturday 27. Early morning hike through Noosa National Park (7km). Abundant and varied bird life. Many and varied trees. Some huge. Unable to locate koala. Splendid day. Spruiked in-town scene. Top response. Then did mangrove track. Saw mangrtove heron. White. Strolled beach. Swam. Another look for koala. Before you know it its beer time. The new policy is a free sticker if you promise to stick it on the vehicle. I placed seven this way in afternoon. These people are serious, just cashless at beach. This policy will increase profile significantly.
Sunday 28. Early morning market. Once again stallholders keen. Beautiful fresh and prepared food. Vibrant scene. Back at National Park. Took path less travelled. Encountered echidna. White spikes and black fur looking stylishly modern. It browsed through the leaf litter with that long nose and ambled on, long back toes good for scratching between the quills. Then bits falling from a nearby tree made me think koala. Instead, two huge grey-black parrots (white lower rear) dined on giant banksia flowers at the top of a massive tree. Next I caught a glimpse through the trees of a mighty hunting bird (brown and white patern). I rested atop Noosa Hill. Later on the main track finally found koala fat and sleeping high in trees. Next spoted lace monitor, Austraslia's largest goanna, sunning on grass. Enough. Yet there's more. Two butterflies making love.ly red and yellow patern with their wings. Storm clouds and thunder. I made for the pub in time to see the Dockers thrashed by Brisbane. $4.50 pints of Fosters, assorted singers playing guitar. I sat in bright sun flagflying.
