Graham and Lorna even picked us up from Surfer's Paradise!
Tuesday morning we left the hostel in Surfers Paradise and spent some time on the beach (beach pics were accidentally put in our last Blog entry). Once we had our fun in the sun, we took the hostel’s courtesy bus into the city where we met up with Graham and Lorna again, who drove us out to their house in Mudgeeraba! It’s a small town inland from Surfers Paradise, but it was connected by transit to both Surfers and Brisbane, which made it a great home base! Once in town, Lorna took us for a little tour around the area, and showed us everything we needed to know to find: bank, grocery store and the movie rental store. Lol That night we all had a pizza dinner together with their son and grand son, and relaxed with a night of television, something Hillary and I hadn’t done for awhile. lol

Wednesday Hillary and I checked out the town once more. Looking around the town at night was perfect for seeing how safe things were in the evening, but it’s tough to see how the context fits around everything. We even took the opportunity to walk down to the train station,

This is where we got to stay! Hillary and I can't thank Graham and Lorna for opening their home and lives to us, being friends of a friend.
and see how long it’d take (which was like half an hour). Graham and Lorna set off that afternoon for a vacation of their own. It was a shame we could not spend more time together, but Hillary’s and my poor planning didn’t allow for too much flexibility unfortunately. We then did our groceries for the week soon after. How great it was to have our own full size fridge! We could finally buy some good food without worrying about lugging it from hostel to hostel. Lol Once back, we had a huge thunderstorm that night! There was so much lightning, and the downpours were crazy. I have this habit of taking videos of thunderstorms to try and catch lightning on camera, so I ended up spending the evening sitting by the window with my camera ready. We haven’t been able to upload any videos for the blog, but I’ll see if I’m able to grab any screenshots. lol

One of the few golf courses we've seen so far! I guess it's good that I didn't bring my clubs.
