Termite farms on the way to isa!
Another big driving day today! headed off at sparrow f@rt to make sure we had plenty of time to get to Mt Isa. We needed to be somewhere that was sure to have a dawn service for Anzac Day tomorrow. Not a lot of towns between here and there up this way!

Unfortunately we had to get diesel so had to wait in Normanton until the shop opened at 7am. So we made a cuppa and toast in our camp toaster and waited it out. On the way here though, we saw dozens, and I really mean dozens, of dead little kangaroos or wallabies on the road. It was very weird and very sad. They looked more like kangas but were very small. Rob drove pretty quietly to give the heaps of little guys on the side of the road, a chance to get out of the road. There were a couple of near misses but luckily we did well. We've not seen anything like that before. Hope not to again.

The first stop after that is a road house in the middle of nowhere called Burke and Wills. We traveled along the Burke developmental road. It was pretty

ordinary but they sell fuel, have toilets and food so that's okay. There was a sign in the toilets (picture below) that suggested to shut the door because Brown snakes will come in! Wouldn't particularly want to be here at night! Stupidly ordered a coffee. Urghhh most expensive AND worst coffee ever.

Along the way we spotted termite farms! TRUE STORY! They farm termites up here! (See the pictures below for proof!) (tee hee). We also say so many wedge tailed eagles. Hard to take photos of though, but they were magnificent, feasting on the many kangas that had become road kill. (the circle of life)

On the way I had a ride in the first class seats, and had a lovely nap! Next stop Cloncurry. Stopped for a nice salad for lunch (hard to get fresh out her so welcome change) and fueled up. Not a lot to see in Cloncurry but it is a nice little town. Getting VERY hot!

Only an hour and a half later we were in Mt Isa. All the parks are a good 2k's away from the dawn service, too far to walk at that early hour. But the winner

This is a TRUE STORY!
was the Big 4 as the owner said, no there's no bus but we will take you with us! So we propped here at Argylla caravan park. A relaxed dinner and now about the watch the Demons smash Richmond! Very excited Mt Isa shows AFL footy live!

Hope everyone is doing well!
