Out of contact for a couple of days , left Karumba and headed for Burke and Wills road house which is quite unique and famous, every one stops there to fill up and have a snack,we had intended to stay overnight but it was still only just after midday so we decided to push on to Gregory Downs, a small hamlet on the banks of the Gregory river, which is the gateway to adels grove. One pub which also serves fuel and also has a camp site behind, no power but water connected and hot and cold showers and toilets, there is a free camp site about a 1000 mts away on vacant ground but was fairly ridden with broken bottles and lots of rubbish, it turned out to be the place the locals partied at night. We decided to stay behind the pub.

We asked about road conditions to Adels grove and were given conflicting advice, from being good to terrible, being only 90ks away we decided to make the trip a day visit, although we did take the tent and supplies in case we decided ti stay overnight. Well the road conditions were great you could have driven a mini down there, some tarmac but mainly dirt, first 40 ks is also traveled by road trains so caution is required. We also met up with a couple we had met at Karumba on the same site so shared a meal together at the pub

Adels grove is a wilderness camp, providing pre-erected tents and rooms, also 2 areas for caravans and tents one allowing generators, there is a restaurant and bar together with all the usual camping facilities, fuel and refills of gas also available. We decided to go canoeing in the gorge which is situated 7ks from the main reception and a must do,we spent 2hrs both on the water and in the water followed by a beer in the bar.The journey there and back was great with no incidents and only passing road rains going the other way , we have included some photos of the journey and the gorge.

Today we are in Mt Isa restocking and completing some minor repairs
