My Quality Ride!My Quality Ride!My Quality Ride!

How PIMP!! Reckon some alloys, spoiler, a paint job and some kind of breaking system and she would make a decent ride.
The Greyhound bus was not as bad as we expected even though it was 6 hours long! We watched ‘Over the hedge’ animation film so it kept us busy for a couple of hours. We got an expensive ferry from Townsville over to Magnetic Isle and then a local bus to our accommodation on the west coast. The apartments were owned by a guy from Bournemouth but he had been over there for 25 years now! So we had a beer with in the local bar and he lent us a dvd player and the star wars trilogy, as local TV was pants! Our room was pretty basic and I think we were the only people staying at the resort. We quickly learnt that the Isle was very quiet and there was not much to do. But we had 2 nights here so we tried to make the most of it and hired a car to explore the place. The car we hired was called a ‘Moke’. Basically it was a little British made jeep built for the army in the 50’s. They were very basic and very difficult to drive, but excellent fun. It took us about 20mins to get

Beg, sit, stay! as you can see i had hidden talent when it came to the locals.
to the far side of the isle, and there is only one route you can take. We visited a site where we fed wild Rock Wallabies and this was cool as many had little joeys in their pouches. A Possum also made a brief appearance. Headed out at 8.30 that night to get some dinner but everywhere on the isle had either closed or stopped serving. We had a panic as we had not eaten all day and there was no supermarkets, petrol stations or even a 7/11 to get a pack of crisps :-( We managed to find a hostel and begged them for a microwave pizza. Thank god, but we could not believe how dead and how unsuited this isle was for tourists, especially as all the tour agents deeply recommend it. The drive home across the isle in pitch black was entertaining due to trying to dodge the Wallabies, Possums and furry egg laying hedgehog type things. All in all, the wildlife was cool and the isle was nice but just too quiet and very boring for our likes. Onwards to more exciting things as Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays awaited us.
