Oh man! Have we really been here for 50 days?? Where does the time go? We pack up and restock the coolers with ice and are on the road around 10am, it sorta sucked leaving the small town, it sure was a blast. We make our way south through some mountain trails, averaging anywhere from a crawl to a whopping 40km/h the road was rough, but the views amazing, and hey! Were here to explore so why not. Jackie and Sean are making comments about my road choices… are they in for a surprise. Lol We make our way to Undara Volcanic national park to go look at lava tubes, but the cost goes from 42 dollars for a 2 hour trip to 100 for a day tour.. damn, why I can’t I look myself? We then notice its privately owned. So we keep pushing south down the Kennedy Developmental Highway, well they call it a highway and the map shows it as a highway but really its actually a 1 lane dirt track, a few wide nice areas then back to 1 lane track it was a rough go for those 250km’s about 100km north of our
destination we hear constant rubbing from the pass front tire, hmm, A rock in the pad? That would have been nice. We pull the wheel off to find ourselves on metal on metal. We push the next 100km with the only close call being a weave in between 2 cows. And it was tight, almost lost both mirrors. LOL. Sean says he almost had hamburger on his lap but I figure we had at least 10 inches to spare… We get into town around 6pm and its starting to get dark, we crater and pay for a site for 2 nights.
