Hunter Valley
Visited a few wineries today.
McWilliams. Really nice tour of the winery McGuigan. Good wine and we had a pretty good cheese tray for lunch.
Piggs Peake. Nice wines (don’t think we found any bad ones). We were the only ones there, so the part owner took us in back for some special tastings. Some of the reds that won’t be on the market till June of next year. At $90.00 per bottle. Sure would be nice to afford this wine. Absolutely fantastic. Two wines actually.
We then went to a place where we could taste wines from 3 or 4 small wineries. Not too bad. There was also a brewery, but we didn’t want to mix all the wine with any beer.

Hunter Valley.
Petersons Family Winery. Really great place. Wines great too. Recommended!!
Drayton Family Winery. Love the family wineries! Supposedly the best port in Australia. We have found ourselves with a bit too much port
to take home, so…………
Tyrell’s. 150 year old family winery. WOW. Finished off our cheese/biscuit/salami lunch before we had a tour. Scott knows his stuff, likes to talk and does a great job of explaining things. Good wine, too.

Cessnock to Nambucca Heads
On a little side trip there was a ute ahead of us with 4 dogs in the back. One would poke his head out , see if there was any traffic coming his way. If there was, he would then crouch down and wait, when the vehicle got beside them he would jump up and bark. Neat!!
Set up, poured some wine and went for a walk on the beach. Low tide so lots of hard packed sand to walk on. And Linda picked up a few more sea shells. Got our toes wet in the Tasman Sea.
Lots of construction on the Pacific highway. No delays though.

Nambucca Heads to Burleigh Heads.
Before we started on the road, we took OT & BHOT to the ocean for a photo shoot. High tide and lots of good surf. Linda stepped down onto the hardpack and gave the ‘boys’ a bit of
3 129 year old vines
At the top of the picture. Picked by hand! ocean when a big wave came up and SOAKED her. I didn’t have the camera ready, but got an after shot.
Then on the road to Burleigh Heads where we will meet up with my niece in law and her two boys.
Lots of sugar cane planted along the way.
Into Burleigh Heads where we took a bit of a walk and enjoyed watching the surfers. Lots of them, too.
18,925.8 km about 12.3l per 100km. Not bad for a van.
8 days till we board a plane for home!! Good and bad. Bad that the trip is over, but good to be home.
Still a couple more updates to do.
