Paul and Me
My new fav photo! So the date is June 10, 2011........And it's a friday night and we are heading to wine and cheese all done up in our best dresses and accessories!! And boy was it COLD!! But that's life and the drinking must go on! It was a $40 entry fee into the Wine and Cheese Showing this year (not a bad price condisering you get to drink as much wine as you like and eat as many nibbles as you can.......and boy did we do just that!!)
The Art work was of top standards and there were some clear outstanding entries from local and abroad artists. We got to catch up with heaps of friends and drink with my Aunty Theresa and cousin Matty and have a few laughs as well. A few of my old school mates where there as well and it was great to catch up after 10 years of not seeing some of them.
After the Wine and Cheese was closing up for the night we headed on down to the local Orange Hotel/Motel for a few more drinkies and a few more yarns with my sister Jen and other peoples from here, there and everywhere! What an AWESOME
Orange Festival Queen 2011
Miss Helen Dent....A local girl wins the crown!! night!! And didn't most of us pay the next day (especially me (Kattie) and not so much Paul!). And that was after going to bed at 3am.....yes 3am, so we were told!! What old people seriously go to bed at 3am!! lol
So Saturday June 11, 2011......After a bit of a sleep in and some strong pain killers for the killer headache I had, we ventured off down town for the festivities that the Orange Festival had to offer! Window fronts where done up in the theme for the year "Feel The Beat" and I must say a job well done to all those who took part in decorating the shop windows up, a top job!
Stall holders braved the cold and RAIN but festival goers weren't scared off and browsed for bargains just as we did! There where street performers, buskers, rides for the kiddies, food, food and more food! and lots of great things to look at. The main stage had entertainment throughout the day and demonstrations for young and old.
The main street parade was of top standards for Gayndah and everyone who took part should be proud! It was cold and it was rainy
St Joey's Float
Our neice Holly is in the Bumble Bee costume! Isn't she cute! but everyone stood in the rain and watched at the floats went by. We where on the lookout for our neice Holly who was on the St Joeys school float and my little sister Hayley that was on the Binjour school float. There were some top looking floats and entertaining people walking in the parade.......my Aunties for one!! lol
Saturday is always the hub of catch ups and great entertainment and this year was no different! The Grand Hotel had an awesome band playing some wicked tunes and party goers where dancing left, right and center and even on the streets! Beers were flowing, cruisers were cruising and rums were being downed like there was not tomorrow! Paul and I got to catch up with some family and my old school friends hi-jacked me from Paul for a night of beers and laughs and catch ups, pub crawls and more laughs! It was a top night! We headed to the Burnett Hotel for a Beer (the old stomping ground for Becca (an old school friend) and me!). And then we ventured down the street for yet again another pub crawl to the Orange Hotel/Motel for dancing and more beers!
THE BEST CREW IN THE WORLD!!!
Our little school reunion...we had a blast catching up!
Back - Becca, Emma and Christine.
Front - Kaylene and Me (And to think we weren't going to go out!) So another latish night for us 1am!!
So Sunday June 12, 2011.......We had a bit of a sleep in, not a big one by any standards and had showers and got dressed for the Rodeo (Paul decided he didn't want to come....something about the rain he said!), we packed up coats, umbrellas and our nibbles for a date at the showgrounds! But.......as we were just about to leave......It BUCKETED DOWN!! So we decided to ditch the rodeo this year and wasn't Paul just smug!! A big "I told you so" was in order!
So Jen (my little sister) and I decided we would go and spend some time with our littler sister Hayley, our Dad and Step Mum on the farm. When we got there Dad was snoring and Hayley had a friend over so we played the Wii for a bit and hung out with them, made arvo tea with Desley, took some photos and and headed home (back to Mum and Ken's (stepdad)) to get ready for the footy match.....The State Of Oranges!!! Boy was it a good game! Gayndah Gladiators vs Mundubbera Tigers. The Mundubbera Tiger
My little sisters!!
Me, Jen....the tall one and Hayley....the short one for now!! Love you girls! Old boys won there match against Gayndah but in the A Grade final....the Gayndah Gladiators took out the trophy.
So Monday June 13, 2011.......We said our good bys and headed home to Kingaroy for another weeks work. Thanks to Mum and Ken for letting us crash at your house for the weekend and putting up with our messy room and noisy nights!
WE HAD A BALL!!!!!!!! 😊
