Lake Mackensie
Beautiful white sand and clearest water ever!! Stopped in Noosa on the way up from Brisbane to Fraser Island to break up the journey and because it was suppost to be a really beautiful place to visit. It didn't dissapoint one bit, the beach is lovely, with white sand and beautiful coloured blue water. They have a great national park aswell, and me and Susan with my new found love for hiking, did the 5km walk along the coast. Was a really nice walk, saw some Koalas, huge lizards and a really beautiful coastline. On the way back we even saw a pod of dolphins just playing around out at sea which was really great. We stayed at the Noosa Heads YHA and it was really nice and chilled so in the evening we really just watched TV and drank at the hostel bar. The second and last night me and Susan went to dinner as this was the last night we would travel together. She's off to Whitsundsays and I went to Fraser.
5 hours north to Hervey bay on the Greyhound coach, painful. This is a gateway to Fraser Island and in its own right a pretty cool place. Even managed to pursuade the manager
of a local nightclub to turn the dance video off in the packed club and put the Arsenal v Spurs match on instead. So there I was in my shirt at 11.30pm in a crowded nightclub watching the match while people were dancing around me. An hour later and all the lads were standing next to me, while the girls danced! I really know how to kill a mood!
Early start on Sunday morning, up at 4.30am after getting to bed at 1am and on to Fraser Island. We were divided into our group of 11 people and believe me when I say it was a great group. I fell in love with 3 girls on the Greyhound bus from Noosa to Hervey Bay and all three of them were on my group. I got to spend 2 nights in a tent with these stunners. I had 2 well fit Swedish girls, a gorgeous Danish and her mate and 4 Irish lasses (great drinkers). Two cool blokes as well, but of course I was the Alpha male. So just to recap thats 8 women to 3 men!! Was a happy bunny!!
Picked up our 4x4 vehicle and drove
The 3 hotties
At Lake Makensie to the ferry and on to the bumpy sand roads of Fraser Island. The weather was beautiful, hot and sunny. First stop was lake Makensie, which is probably as beautiful a spot as you will ever find, turquoise water, fine white sand, fresh clean water and 3 hot Scandinavians, heaven. We swam and chilled out for while before getting back into the van and heading for the beach. The roads are crazy, how the vans drive I do not know, was great fun though and we even got our deposit back for not breaking anything!! The beaches are great, can drive up to 80kmhs, I of course topped 100kph but had to slow down for fear of the vehicle topping over.We made camp that evening and cooked at BBQ, all very nice until the weather turned ugly and we were in a torrential rain storm and I mean hard. Our camp was covered in 5 inches of water and of course all the tents were now water storage units. About 5 of us slept in the van, coincidence that the 2 swedes were there with me, hmm! Very uncomfortable nights sleep had by all. Although we did have a dingo
The lads drinking
Alpha male, I mean of course!!! come into our camp to look for food which was exciting! Next morning wather was better, no rain anyway and again we cruised the beach and headed to the top of 75 mile beach and up to the wreck of the Maheno and Indian Head, didn't see any sharks although you are not allowed in the ocean at Fraser as it is a shark breeding ground and full of rips and jellies! They have a great lazt river type thing aswell, you walk up stream for maybe 200metres and just lie on your front or back and drift down with the fresh water to the sea, a little slow but fun!
Camp that evening was just over a sand dune and closer to the sea. It was getting cold and spitting again and the wind was very strong but we braved the elements and made a camp again, it was so cosy, using the ground sheet to break the wind, the cookers as a camp fire and once again we all got drunk and played drinking games. Was really nice and everyone was well up for it. 7 of us slept in the tents and 4 in the van
Lake Makensie
Really beautiful lakes, fresh water with white sand cos of the rain and cold. Didn't get too lucky with the weather at night but was still a great trip. Last day was simply back to Lake Makensie which we all loved for a dip and then back to the ferry to the mainland.
Fraser is beautful and great fun, there is a reason why everyone goes mad or this place and noone has a bad word to say about it. Think the lads who are out in Feb/March should put this on their lists of places to visit. Loved it, Whitsundays sailing this weekend, see you there!!

Didn't we guarantee that you'd enjoy Fraser? Can't wait to get back there myself at some stage. Enjoy the rest of the coast. See you New Year's for the session to top all sessions. Sam
