25-8-11 headed off after saying goodbye to Tom & Di to go to Lake Tinaroo in the Atherton Tablelands. After Navman lead us astray twice & nearly got us lost, we arrived at the most beautiful lake, where we are going to stay for a week to have a bit of R & R. We have flushing Loo’s & we can run the generators & it is only $74.20 for a week. We set up & cooked tea & this very cheeky Kookaburra came down & pinched a sausage off Warwick’s plate. 26-8-11 happy birthday Cheryl, girlfriend, have a great day. We had a great morning in the kayaks, fishing & exploring, but the fish are on holidays. The boys went off & collected a whole lot of tree trunks & had trouble cutting them up, so Margy & I went to Atherton & bought a chain saw for them, a lot easier. We sat by the fire & it was great. 27-8-11 had bacon & eggs this morning & that Kookaburra pinched a whole piece of bacon as Den was turning it. We need someone guarding the BBQ while we cook. Went into Atherton to look around, then onto the Cheese & Chocolate Dairy at Malanda, then onto Millaa Millaa & saw the falls. We had a great lunch at a cafe & headed back to camp. We were given some Red Claw’s for tea & we sat around the fire & talked to one of the locals. 28-8-11 lazy day today, out in the kayak, still no fish.
