Conquering the rock

Atop Uluru/Ayer's Rock
On Sunday evening, we arrived at Yulara (Ayers Rock Resort) in time for a swim in the pool and a walk up to a viewpoint to see the sunset on Uluru (Ayers Rock) itself.

The following morning we were up at 5am again to witness sunrise on the rock before a long walk around Kata-Tjuta (The Olgas) followed by a BBQ lunch at the Aborignal Cultural centre right next to Uluru.

In the afternoon, Tim climbed the rock (2hr15min climb in 36 Celsius heat) with a few of the more intrepid (insane!) members of the group whilst Emma joined the more sensible people who walked the 9km base route (all the way around).

A few beers were consumed whilst watching the sunset make Uluru change colour.

That night we slept (very soundly) in our swags...but not before checking that nothing had crawled into them during the day!
