Saw the Magnetic Termite Mounds. The termites build these mounds flat, facing East and West and the skinny sides North/South. These mounds are built in the flood areas and get warmth from the morning sun, wait out the heat of the day in the middle of the mound and in the evening go to the West face to keep warm. Amazing smart termites. Florence Falls 4WD camp was full. Went back to Buley Rockhole and got the last camp site. Went and had a swim in the rockholes. One had a cascade that pelted onto your back and it was like a massage. Cooked thinly sliced potatoes on the BBQ plate, much nicer that the gas BBQ. More like chips. Had another swim early in the morning and saw a snake on the path as we were leaving. Drove back to Florence Falls. Very tall, but a long walk down so think we stayed at the right campsite. Got to Wangi Falls (a huge swimming area) had a lovely swim; cool, but a warm pool up the rocks on the far side. Drove down the 4WD track to Surprise Creek Falls, crossed 3 rivers, one was about 800mm deep! Saw another

They build them big out here Ulty leaving Surprise Creek as we arrived. Lovely swimming area, with a very deep plunge pool at the falls. Some guys were jumping in from the top - madness.
Drove to Daly Waters for a look around. The Aboriginal Community near the Airport was very clean, first one. Went to Douglas Springs (15 to 60°C) and the paths were washed away from the Wet Season. Can’t jump or swim in water - too shallow and too many people. Very hard to get a spot just nice, either too hot or too cold. Left there and went to Edith Falls - got last campsite there. We have been very lucky. It is a lovely campsite, spoke to some nice people. Went for yet another swim. The kids joined us for a swim across to the falls and back. It was 300m, and they both did well. Met another Ulty owner at the park and chatted for a while. The kids slept well that night.
Stocked up in Katherine and drove through Victoria River Region. Different trees than we have previously seen and large escarpments. There is a line right around the top of the escarpment that shows were the

A Silly upside down photo water had previously been, very high up. Victoria River is a huge river. Continued to Big Horse Creek Campground, just past Timber Creek and met the couple that were behind us at Darwin Caravan Park. He was horrified to see the kids. As, when they left Darwin he said “Next time you see me, you can shoot me with your rubber band guns”. The kids had a ball. There was a guy from Bittern just near us. Talk about a long way to go to meet someone from the neighbourhood. Went to Gregory National Park and saw Bullita Homestead. One of the original homesteads in the area. Crossed the border at 3.30pm and turned the clock back to 2pm (when were actually having lunch in NT). Oh, by the way NT stands for “Not Today”, “Not Tomorrow”, “Not Tuesday”, Not Thursday” and No Internet!!!
