so, 27th sept, michelle started work at kitties irish bar on mitchell street. i went and gave her moral support from the other side of the bar. was wearing my villa shirt and met another villa fan - so anyway, got talking to loads of people.
from there on, we have basically made plenty friends and been doing lots of stuff in darwin. we have had a couple of aussie bbq's, lots of nights out on mitchell street, met heaps of people, mainly irish and english!
we moved into Les and Vicki's (megans parents) i think around 1st october. they just moved into a lovely new condo, and we had our own rooms and bathroom, pool downstairs, that we had a bit of a party in one night at some crazy o'clock! erm, irish mick did end up with my thong on his head for some reason, i also fell off the bench and got a nice bruise on my thigh. then someone started shouting at us to keep quiet, i think meesh was bombing the pool at that point. anyway, we carried on regardless and had a jolly old time. i think we got away with it. fingers
crossed.
so michelle getting on ok at kitties, and we moved in with les and vicks, then - i think it was last sunday, we met up with rob and mick. rob is from essex and lives here at the mo, mick is irish, here with his bro and plenty of mates, we have been having lots of fun with them, back to robs (he shares house with 16 people) and hanging around with mick, andy (his bro) and various people at their hostel. some great nights, unfortunately mick went home last night (sunday 12th) to see his mammy and family, he is coming back to aus 31st october so hopefully, we might meet up on the gold coast. maybe i will. and maybe i wooont. yee-eeees.
on friday 10th, we moved into a new place. i start a new child minding job on monday 13th, to a gorgeous 8 month old baby girl, the parents run a lodge and so we get a room too, which is brill with a kitchen and air con, pool and stuff. i only work 3 hours a day and our room is free so its brill.
13th, started looking after
baby alex today, she is lovely. had a good morning with her and then me and meesh used the pool, and had a bbq with the manager and the rest of the staff round the pool. really nice people.
we are VERY happy here!
we can borrow the ute and use the bicycles too - so thats a brucie bonus.
up to 22nd oct
so we've had some nights out on Mitchell Street, the usual, meeting mates in the bar and general dancing and malarky. Had a bit of a silly night when we were dancing in The Lost Arc, i had put my bag down on the stage to dance, there was a live (as opposed to a dead one) band on and they were really good, so me and Andy (ONDY ONDY - private joke) were moshing about a bit, and then after a few songs i discovered my bag had disappeared. I was livid - like - not AGAIN!!! im soooo fed up of being robbed. As usual i had everything in it, camera, purse, cards, diary, etc. So i had tears and hysterics and Emma (lives with Rob) looked after me, and after we
crocs
Adelaide River, Darwin, NT looked and looked and didnt find it, we got a taxi home. i burst into the room while rob and michelle were home already and shrieked like a demented banshee, i was under the influence and rather hysterical. i tried to get on the internet at the lodge to cancel my cards (again) and couldnt manage to work the pc, blundering idiot. anyway, michelle managed to call my bank for me, dont know how, but we cancelled everything and i fell into a stupor after rambling on half the night. rob and emma went home rather than put up with my crazy antics.
next morning, we try calling my phone - it rings. hmmm, mysterious. so we call it a few times with no answer. then - meesh is holding her phone and it rings! its me! we both shriek and eventually answer it. well, it was the pub, they had found my bag in the DJ booth, no idea who put it there. my guess is that some dozy bint picked it up by accident and thought she would put it somewhere safe, but didnt bother telling anyone. well - thats all i can guess at, either way,
i didnt put it there - some bladdy mystery stranger moved it and totally threw me into a panic. GAH
we have also been to mendil markets which is a 10 minute walk from here. its a market on from 4pm til 10pm or something like that, they have stalls, clothes, jewellery, loads of really good food stalls from everything you can imagine, and its along the coast so you can sit on the beach and watch the sun set (along with hundreds of others), and there is a brill 2 man band called Emdee which are drums and didgeridoo. they are really fab, didnt think i would like it but their music is fantastic. we've been twice now to see them and eat there, really nice place.
another trip we did was to Adelaide river, me, meesh, rob, matt (staying here) and silke (german girl who works here too cleaning rooms) - we all drove up in the Ute to take the boat trip on the river where the crocs actually leap out of the water to catch the chunks of meat that they dangle out of the boat. this is the only place in the world
that they do this, it was really cool and you got to see the scary monsters close up. i think a couple of them had actually tried to chat me up at kitties - im sure i recognised them. it was the glint in the eye and the knobbly skin that gave it away!
i have been really enjoying looking after little Ally and the family are lovely, its a great place to stay here - but we are in the "build up"to wet season and it gets really hot, and rains and storms a lot. so we'll see how it goes.
So thats it up to now in a rough summary!!! will try and get some pics of Darwin haha for next blog!
