THE NIGHT TRAIN
Linda can carry her own rucksack! Hi folks. We have just completed a week here in Sydney and have tried to pack as much as possible into that time. Sydney really is a wonderful city. Both bigger and much busier than either Adelaide or Melbourne
We arrived here via the overnight train from Adelaide. Unfortunately neither of us slept very much so we were pretty shattered when we arrived. For the first time on our travels we hadn't booked accommodation ahead of our arrival. It proved to be of little consequence as we found a pretty OK place very near the central station which is reasonably situated for travelling about the city. The only drawback according to Ken is that he somehow has got lemmoned to sleep on the top bunk!
We have done ALL the usual touristy things:
The Hop on- Hop off bus trip which lasts for two hours and allows you to get on and off at all the touristy spots. Its valid for 24 hours and includes a bus tour up to...
....Bondi beach which must be the most over hyped beach in the world. Hence no photographs!
We have also visited Darling Harbour; The Aquarium (thanks for
SYDNEY AQUARIUM
Don't fancy crabs this big! the heads up Stuart) which was fantastic especially the underwater tunnel oceanarium experience, as hopefully you can see from the pickies; the Harbour Bridge; the Opera House; the Rocks Market - which is one of the best craft type markets we have ever seen; the now compulsory trip up the tallest tower, which as usual rewarded us with spectacular views and incorporated a 30 minute 3-D Oz-Trek (and Sian I didn't have to walk out or throw up!!); a few bars! including an Irish one on Sunday night where Ken was the only Dunfermline fan in a room full of Celtic fans watching the CSI Cup Final at 2 o'clock in the morning! (Linda bailed out from this adventure!)The 3-0 scoreline against us was pretty flattering.
Dare we also say, yet another shoppers, eaters and drinkers paradise. There are shopping malls, food courts, pubs and restaurants everywhere.
We spent a pretty good day celebrating St Patrick's day last Friday, and in typical Irish fashion they held their annual parade on Sunday 19. To be fair it was hardly the most sparkling of events with some really grotty floats and not much imagination put in to them. The parade

A shark looking for it's dinner ended with a free 'Party in the Park' that would be the Sydney Hyde Park, then. We preferred to do a bit of walking about the city as it was such a lovely day.
Today Linda felt the need to chill out so she ventured down to the Chinese Garden which is a touch of peace, serenity and tranquility amidst the hustle, bustle of city life. Definitely a place to visit and not to be rushed. It did not take an awful lot of imagination to take you to another place if you wanted to go there, of course!
So, farewell Sydney. Onwards and upwards towards Byron Bay, Brisbane and Cairns and many points in between.
Look forward to seeing your comments on the comments board.
Oh, and a huge Happy Birthday greeting to CILIA who was seven on March 16.
Ken & Linda.

Lovely pictures of Sydney, brought back great memories of our visit. Unfortunately our next stop was Bicester. Carry on enjoying the adventure November isn't far away.
