Well it has all come to an end, the holiday that took so much planning and preperation has come and gone, I enjoyed every single moment and was not at all ready to come home. The highlight of the cruise was no doubt Lauren and Terence's wedding on Disney's own private island, Castaway Cay. We had the most delightful weather all week and I have picked up the most amazing tan, (white freckly English gals don't tan!) but wedding day dawned overcast with the threat of rain. It took the captian longer than usual to dock and we soon realised why, the storm threats were so bad that if it had been any worse we would not have made the island at all and the 'kids' would have had to be married at sea. None the less, pixie dust prevailed and we were whisked to the picture perfect place for the ceremony about 10.30am in all our finery and amongst the wind and sand Lauren arrived to the Black Eyed Peas looking AMAZING and Terence wed his bride with the biggest smile on his face, I have NEVER seen him look happier. It was a very special moment that brought both
The photo I HAD to have!
Numerous small children were harmed in the efforts to get this picture with alas... my favourite Disney Princess! Kerry and I to tears (surprise, surprise!). Whilst the bridal party took a multitude of pictures the rest of us lounged in hammocks and sipped coronas or cocktails nearby and tried not to be blown out to sea. Many thanks to Justine for the dress, I love love love that dress and felt gorgeous in it so thanks so much! Clouds were threatening and we headed back to the ship for a small champagne gathering in the piano bar where Lauren and Terence cut their cake, heartfelt speeches were said and they danced their first dance together as a married couple to the theme song from Beauty and The Beast (hmmmm - you can imagine the comments! LOL). We all then headed back to the island in our beach attire for one last look at the beach we called home one day a week during our work lives on the Disney Magic. By this stage the weather had gone down hill with everyone abandoming the island for the ship including crew so you got to know its bad when they opt to get back in their tin boxes! Little did we know until Lauren and Terence met with the photographer
Reunions aplenty
Kerry & I with Arnel whom I am in awe of - still on the Disney Magic 10 years on. later that evening, that there was a tornado at sea, which he captured in the background of one of their photos - truely amazing!
Later in the evening, we dressed back in our wedding finery and dined in Lumiere's restaurant with the theme, "Till we meet again", bitter sweet as we were to go back to our homes to the following day. At dessert time, arguably the best part of any meal, Grace our server took our menus off us and brought a key lime pie especially made for me as I had commented at the first port day that I didnt get to have a piece of key lime pie whilst there! Another magical moment, and an example of the Disney difference! We stayed up celebrating, talking and cramming eachother into our memories till the wee hours of the morning, (some longer than others, I gave in at 1.45am).
The next morning we had our last breakfast together and then we all disembarked and took the Dsiney Magical Express to Orlando airport. Here we said our final farewells which I found particularly difficult and in the end just had to break away and not look back. Hopefully
we will plan our next reunion in the coming years, maybe Hawaii in 5 years? Or when the next Disney wedding comes around? (Kerry and Gaston????????????? LOL) The flight home, Orlando - LAX - Sydney was a lonely and long flight but I was met at the other end by my neice Jessica, nephew Bailey, sister Narelle and Mum which was lovely and as I had done my bit for the American and Mexican economy I had enough bags to distribute one to each of them and head home.
So thats it kids, the journey is complete and the memories and photos (6 CDs no less) remain to tell the tales of an awesome time. For more photos keep your eye on facebook, your email account or next time I see you I'm sure to shove a few in your face! Until then, wishing each and every one of you a magical and merry Christmas filled with disney style faith, trust and pixie dust. Thank you all for your messeges and comments they were wonderful to read whilst we were on the road.
Feliz Navidad....
