Hostel
It was time to move on. Monday, we rented a room for a couple of nights above a pub so we would be closer to the centre of the city. Not the nicest, but it was across the street from McDonalds, which meant we were able to pick up the free WiFi without having to leave the room! Lol We dropped by IEP to hammer out our travel arrangements for next couple of months. The day before, we had actually decided to bus up the coast, and had already bought our Greyhound tickets. We bought Mini Traveller Passes, which would give us 45 days to get from Sydney to Cairns, with unlimited stops along the way. We also drafted out a schedule, mapping out the places we planned on staying at, and for how long in order to get us to Cairns within 45 days. After all this planning Hillary napped the evening away, but later that night we tried out the casino in Star City. We even became members in order to get free drinks! …let’s just say my flat/warm coke was not exactly worth it.
Tuesday we decided it was finally time to check out the Sydney Tower. Well, it was a lot like
Break time
Most places to stay need you to check out by 10 or 11am, but don't accept arrivals until past noon. So we needed to chill somehwere. most towers around the world, including the CN Tower. You know, long elevator ride, 360 degree viewing platforms, restaurants and cafés… All the things you’d expect. Regardless though, the view was great. You really get a good sense of your surroundings when you’re able to see the whole picture. Sydney may feel like an inland city on a river, but once you get up there, you realize the ocean is just next door. It was awesome.
That night, we finished up watching some of the television I had recorded on my computer (we actually finished up the entire series of Death Note in the past week!) and figured we needed an early night to bed if we wanted to be rested for our first bus ride out of the city! …well as usual, Hillary was asleep by 11pm, and I ended up turning in around 4am thanks to that free internet from McDonalds. Definitely miss the convenience of having internet whenever you want it back at home. Lol
Before leaving on Wednesday though, we had some very important business to attend to… Hillary’s Ipod hadn’t been working for days now! We tracked down the mandatory Apple store that
Monorail
We relaxed at McDonalds, which had this cool monorail right above. all major cities have to have, and tried to see what was wrong with it. Turns out Hillary’s charger hadn’t been working, and her Ipod’s battery was simply out of juice. She bought a new charger and all was good. Just in time too, because we were now off to our bus which would take us to our first stop on our way to Cairns… which would be Newcastle!
