Ceri and I said good buy to the exceptional beauty of the Blue Mountains and hello to the fascinating city that is Sydney. Ceri and I had to drop of the camper van then Leah one of Ceri friends kindly offered us a lift, as well as putting Ceri and I up for our stay in Sydney. Leah has a bubbly personally and totally mental as well (in a nice way of cause).
Leah deiced to show Ceri and I around the city, and it was a brilliant tour of the city. We saw Harbor Bridge, Opera house, Darling harbor, the rocks, Queen Victoria building, before driving to lane cove where Leah lives. Leah made Ceri and I feel very welcome in her home. It was so good to be in a home rather than a hostel a bit more time to relax. Leah has 2 flat mates called Dan and Maxime who also made us feel very welcome.
Day 1
To day Ceri and I headed back to all the sites that Leah had showed us the day before to take some pictures. We ventured around the immense city, walking over Harbor Bridge and the opera house, it was
a very bright and busy day.
Day 2
To day was the first real lazy day I have had since traveling. Little effort was put in today’s tasks, if fact all I done was walk down the road to subway.
Leah was away kayaking for the weekend and had left Ceri and I a key. Ceri today was on a high as she had booked tickets to go and see Kings of Leon play. I decided not to go as I not a massive fan and of the kings and we had already booked another festival in about a week’s time which will be explained in a future blog. Anyway it was so nice just to chill out for the day doing nothing reminded me of lazy Sundays.
Day 3
Was beach day, we headed down to bondi beach to top up our tans. The beach was packed being a Sunday I think all the tourist and all the locals must have been on the beach.
At night Leah was back from her weekend of kayaking and cooked Ceri and I dinner and it was something I had not tried before sweet and sour Chicken, I tried it
and liked it……… After about half a bowl of the food I started to not like it so much. Everyone knows what I am like with food but on these travels I have tried quiet a few things for me and end up liking it, but after a certain amount it’s like my body rejects it and I cannot eat anymore. So I have come to the conclusion that with food I am always going to be a strange duck.
Going back to Leah and her weekend of Kayaking she had some really good news. Leah and her kayaking partner David has just won the mixed doubles state championships for her division, and had a shiny gold medal to go along with it, beating there personal best time by 9 mins.
Leah also today bless her bought Ceri and I a Sydney t-towel each as a little present to remind of our time in Sydney.
Day 4
To day I went to the gym. Yep you heard correctly the gym lol. I was 12 stone 4 or 78kg when I left the UK I am now 11 stone 4 or 73 kg. So I have now managed to lose
1 stone in weight since my travels. It’s just a shame this is one stone in mussel not fat as I think my belly is getting bigger lol. The gym was a really good work out cannot lift anywhere near the amount I used to but did have a good hour work out before heading for a swim, and I loved every second of it.
In the afternoon I went to the city Ceri and opted for the beach today at manly, so I was on my own walking Sydney once more. It must be bad luck not to be with Ceri as when I am on my own I get all the weirdo come up to me asking if I can buy them alcohol or some teenager holding a baby bottle and just squeezing the milk out of pretending its his willy when crossing the road….. Strange ducks.
In the evening Leah, Ceri, Maxime, Dan and I all sat around the TV watching scrubs and desperate house wife’s…..sad I know but it was very homely .
That’s it for Sydney did not do an awful lot here but that’s cus I am trying to save money where I
can for NZ and the next 2 weeks in oz which are jammed packed.
I have also changed my plans. I am now heading for NZ on the 8th Apr instead of the 26th due to lack of money and how expensive oz is. My 9 month trip is now almost certain to be a 6 month trip with the Inca trail booked up 3 months in advance, and me not having 3 months of money left I am pretty sure I will be skipping south America altogether. I am TOTTALLY AND UTTERLY GUTTED I am not going to do the Inca trail as it was number 2 on my list of things I wanted to do. On another note though I plan to go back to South America on another trip sometime in the future and see more of it than just Chile, Peru and Mexico. So at the mo it looks like my trip will be over some time in May or June either in NZ or Canada, depending on work and money.
.....
Just thouhgt I would let everyone know that I am a dick I deleted quiet a few of my Sydney photos thinking I
had all ready backed them up DOH 😞 lol
