Sydney Harbour
Here I am at Mrs Macquaries point admiring the view (of robert) Hi everyone,
Sorry it's taken me so long to write about my first week but there's just been SO much to do and not much time to jump down to the internet cafe!!
Well the flight here was really good, to be honest it didn't really seem TOO long, probably because i slept most of the way... the weirdest thing was hving two breakfasts in 24 hours...there's something way wrong there!! Haha. But it was good, they kept offering me chocolate though which was OH so tempting!! Haha! Not fair!
I arrived at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport at around 6:30am on Tuesday 1st May and there was a big queue to get through immigration and then customs and quarantine - but I did eventually get through to the other side - FREEDOM! Robert was there to meet me and I dived on top of him!! Woooooo!! We took Cityrail to Museum which is near where Robert works. The Cityrail Suburban network is a little bit like the tube in London only it's actually better - the trains are double decker it is a tad weird I guess haha! But then everything is weird until you get used
Me and robert
Royal Botanic Gardens to it. We walked from here up William street towards where our apartment is in Elizabeth Bay, it was quite a long walk but so worth it because I got to see lots of nice sights on the way!
When we arrived at the apartment I was totally shocked at how pretty it is...it's perfect! Absolutely perfect! It's so sunny and bright - there's SO much windows and big huge patio doors leading out to a balcony (which i have spent many hours on already). It was 25 degrees on Tuesday. We went out to this warehouse in Alexandria to buy some electronic stuff that we needed for the flat - a TV, stereo and a phone for the landline. we got a really good deal - I also bought a pink hairdryer! HAHA! Loving it. I was totally exhausted from the jet lag so we went home after that and I really had to rest for the rest of that day because I was dying haha! I didn't know what time it was.
On Wednesday we went out in the morning and did a huge big long walk down to the Sydney Harbour to see the sights.
We walked all around Circular Quay and then around Farm Cove to Mrs Macquaries point where you can see amazing views over the harbour. It was a beautiful day I think it reached up to 27 degrees and there was full sunshine the whole day! It was just beautiful I could have cried. The sun was glistening on the water and it was just gorgeous. After that we walked up into the Rocks area to have a look at my hotel which was cool and then we walked back down into the city and had some lunch, I had squid and chips it was loverly and nice! Delish, we were STARVING! We cooked dinner on Wednesday night it was great fun, I loved exploring the supermarket to see what kinda stuff they've got here. Good news is I got my soya milk so I'm sorted! Haha.
Thursday I walked around Rushcutter's Bay because Robert was at work and it was yet again another lovely day. After that I walked into the city to meet Rob from work but he was gonna be late and I was feeling really tired so I just walked back home to lie on the couch and watch telly for a while. Although Aussie TV isn't very good....infact it SUCKS. But we'll get used to it I guess.
Yesterday was Friday and I stayed in most of the day to chill out on the balcony and read my book. Got a lot of sun on the balcony and I think my freckles are coming out on my big nose...hehe. The good news is that I'm catching up with Neighbours and Home and Away...it's weird skipping like months!!! Karl is no longer a hairy beast and seems to be a doctor again, and in Home and away, Beth is dead...WOW random hey? And Kitt has had her baby - it's a boy and it's name is .... oh wait I forgot i think it's Albert or something. That is the highlight of my Aussie TV day as nothing else is really worth watching. Big Brother is quite good too but i don't really know any of the contestants.
So today is Saturday and here I am sitting in an internet cafe in Kings Cross not far from the apartment - the sun is full shining again today and I'm gonna go home in a minute to sit on the balcony with a big long drink and read my book before I go and get Robert from work and buy some makeup for going out tonight! I haven't worn makeup since I got here - no wonder the population has halved since I got here. They all died from shock.
Anyway, I hope this keeps you all updated - here is my house phone number: 0061 2 93804027 so if you dial it just like that you'll get through to my lovely house.
Next week we are going to the beach on Wednesday if it's a nice day because Rob's off that day. Not sure which beach yet there's so many to choose from but either Manly or Bondi will be good.
I'm off now, but please send me loads of e-mails and even better - letters to:
