The New Years crewe
We raided the local convenience store and setup camp on the beach ahead of the big fireworks display. Sydney round 2
Arrived back in Sydney after another night of no sleep and we made our way over to Manly to meet Ray, who kindly offered to put us up for a few days as we could not get any accom in Sydney. We headed straight out to the beach to meet up with some of Rays pals who are really cool and then went to all go and play lawn bowls together. BOWLS, I here you say! Don’t knock it I tell you, it was a good laugh and requires some serious skill. Jo was naturally very good at it and beat everyone. We all headed out for some nice food and headed back to Rays as we were shattered. Ray had kindly bought an airbed for us to sleep on but had forgot to buy a pump! So we had the mammoth task of manually blowing up the airbed on shear breath! We had to all take it in turns due to fear of hyperventilating! We got up early New Years Eve and headed to Bradley Head to get a good spot to watch the fireworks. We all spent the day chilling on the beach playing games and
Caught up with my bud John.
Good job too, as we had no money! We were playing the circles drinking game and got abso monkeyed. having munchies waiting for the 9pm show. Jo and I had tickets to a Hedkandi night at Cargo bar, Darling Harbour back over in the city so we headed over to meet up with some other friends. We had a bit of a panic as our British bank cards stopped working and we had no money on us. This was a real dilemma but a mate of mine came to the rescue and lent us some bugs bunny! (Money) We later met up with Louise (B’mth girl) and several other guys from back home and all had a wicked night. We all went back to an after party in Kings Cross til the early hours and partied on! All the guys were really top and everyone had a good night to funky tunes. Getting back to Manly the next morning at 10am was a bit of an arse as we were so tired. Managed to call all the crewe back home though and wish them all a very happy New Year! It was good to here that everyone had gathered at the bungalow for the traditional New Years party. Got back to Rays and pretty much crashed out! Eriko cooked
us a lovely Japanese curry in the eve and we searched for our new accommodation. We found a really cool serviced apartment right in the city centre which was reasonably cheap and the following day we moved in. Did a bit of shopping the next day and made the most of our apartment by cooking our first meal in over 2 months! It was awful!! Borrowed a mates internet following day and booked our flights to New Zealand - can’t wait ;-) Also acquired the first 6 episodes of 3rd series of Lost so spent another evening saving the pennies. I was in heaven... Went to travel agents next day to get some info on NZ and booked a Magic Bus Tour which will take us round both Islands. Met my old work mate for beers and pool in the evening and Jo got slightly tipsy! Met up with our Irish friends from Thailand next day and toured the Blue Mountains - so beautiful. I went out again with my work mate as Jo wasn’t feeling to good. Caught up with Lou and the crewe from New Year again following evening for a BBQ which was good fun. Chilled out
next day and caught up with our blog as we have been getting requests from Blighty. Off to NZ really early on Tuesday morning for 25 days so will try and keep you all updated on they way round as it’s easier than writing a months worth of blogs in one hit. So stay tuned and lookout for our Kiwi adventures. ;-D
