Hey from Sydney people!
Well I've bin here a week and a half now, still settling in and trying to sort stuff out so I'll fill you in on what's been happenin so far.
Sydney really is a beautiful city, it's huge and mad busy day and night. The bus from the airport passed by all the sights, opera house, the bridge (which I'm climbing next week...eek!), Darling Harbour, the Botanical Gardens, and they're all exactly as you'd imagine. Then we reached King's Cross...haha! Not quite as nice, it's the backpackers' ghetto of Sydney, also consisting of the red light district (yep another one!) and every 24 hour bar you could want. This is really becoming a trend for me so far!!
My hostel is pretty nice, I started off sharing with a Canadian called Anne and an English girl called marie, both really lovely and making me feel right at home. Anne moved on to Melbourne at the end of last week though. I have now moved rooms coz the one I was in was booked for this week and am sharing with some Scouser girls, they're all lovely aswell and get on really well wit them.
Sydney
World Bar, King's Cross
Ursula, Nicola and Me The hostel is pretty tightly knit, a lot of people have been there for ages, working and saving to head off up the coast mostly, so it's really cool you can just go and chill in the tv room or sit out on the terrace and have a chat...and a drink!
So I kept in good touch with the girls I met in Thailand and on my flight here and we've been out partying plenty and to the beaches. They're lovely girls and I've also met loadsa their mates who have been out here a while, seriously it is County Sydney.....deffo more Irish here than Aussies!!
Had a few gud nites out, one at Coogee Beach, at the Coogee Palace. That was a pretty funny nite, probably ain't so funny now but there was an escalator in the club and after a few drinks we just thot this was great going up and down the esalator all nite lol! Weirdos we r!!
Saturday nite we ended up at the Bondi Hotel...ok let me explain over here a hotel is like a late bar at home, or a bar with music...how stupid is that but anyhow! That was
Sydney
It's Summer Bay!! a messy nite, bottles of wine went into action and the rest is a fuzzy memory. The fotos seem to indicate a class nite though, I'll maybe put SOME of them online hehe!
On Monday we went to Palm Beach aKa Summer Bay, yes the Home and Away beach!! It's amazin, actually looks just like it does on tv and even better we saw some filmin! Martha and Jack (those who watch it will kno....Megan....Lauren...Walteaser...Melissa u love it!!) were doin an emotional scene...aw tears 😞! They took about 4 takes to get it right. And Jack is just as gorgeous in the flesh, but quite skinny actually. Well they say tv puts pounds on you, this must be true! So that was quite an excitin day for me! Ramsay Street in the New Year lol!
So for the serious stuff, I have a job! I had a trial yesterday at a wee restaurant near where I'm gonna be livin as of next week and they gave me the job, woohoo! The money's not as gud as I'd hoped so Ursula (1 of the girls from Thailand) and me are gonna have another look2moro, there's loadsa jobs in offices
Sydney
It's the Surf Club! working from 7-3 so there's still time for the beach and the pay is good so mite think about one of those. But at least I have something in the meantime. The rate I'm spending money over here any job will be great lol!
I'm movin out of the hostel on Monday and into an apartment in Randwick just outside Sydney city. It's with Ursula and her friends Brian and Colleen, it's really nice and handy to everywhere and it'll give me more space than the hostel..and it's cheaper!
So really it's all gud so far, I wouldn't say I'm completely settled just yet but once I get into a wee routine with a job and that I'll be grand, it's all been really crazy and random so far...but a lot of fun! Roll on Christmas, Gatecrasher all day on the beach and New Year by the Opera House!
That's me up to date so far, sittin here with some serious sunburn from Bondi today, ouch! Maybe it wasn't time to come down on my factor after all!Hope everyone is well and gettin excited coz it's nearly Christmas, first thing I'm doing in the flat is puttin
Sydney
Martha and Jack filmin..shush! a tree up! Although it is the weirdest thing ever seeing a Christmas tree with the blue sky and sun behind it...can't get used to it!
Lots of Love, Mwah Jo xixix
