Aww...so this is my last entry from Sydney! Actually I've already left Sydney, in Melbourne now. So I'll start with my trip to the Blue Mountains. Once the holidays were over I thought I should maybe try getting out of the city and seeing some different places for a change, it of culture and all that. So I booked myself a Blue Mountains tour. Caught the coach at 6 yes 6am.....but Zellini's have got me well used to my early mornings so not so bad. From Sydney we made our way inland to....yes you guessed the Blue Mountains. The views were stunning, took some beautiful walks in the national park area. Got on the steepest railway in the world to take us down into the parklands, actually the train was almost vertical going down and then on the way back up, oh no it didn't turn around, just headed off backwards! it of excitement. Saw all the main landmarks, 3 Sisters (apparently 3 sisters were turned to stone by their dad many years ago...blah....blah....blah!) Saw some old coalmines and some pretty nice waterfalls aswell.
After lunch it was time for some wine tasting and so it was off to Tizzana
Winery for a look around. The highlight of the day for me was Featherdale Wildlife Park where I got to hold a koala, aw they're so cute and cuddly! Also got pretty close to some wallabies and kangaroos aswell as a huge croc! The journey home was a scenic harbour cruise where I got to take a few more pics of the opera house, bridge and the city, as if I don't have enough of those. However it was a great day and got to meet some more lovely people who are also travelling. It's so cool meeting all kinds of people, and I've been given so much info for when I move onto other places, so far got like fifty places to visit, just hoping my budget takes me that far haha!
Sooo....come 4th January it was time for me to find a new place to stay. Although I was having a fab time in the flat with Brian, Colleen and Ursula my bed had een reserved since November for someone else, damn it! Although it was cool too coz I got to check out a new hostel, meet some more people before I head for Melbourne. And
Blue Mountains
and the 3 Sisters so I arrived at Gracelands...and the madness begins! Gracelands is the name of the hostel and it's such a cool place, met so many lovely friends there and infact was nearly going to stay in Sydney longer. However I came on this trip to travel and that's what I'm gonna do! Just to mention some people we've got Katie, really great English girl, the size of a borrower lol! Lily and Brigid are 2 best mates from Wexford who I shared with and they were both class, Brigid's coming to Melbourne in February for a bit so that should be a party and a half! Then there's Gary and Mark, love them both to bits, soooo cool and funny as! Gary's where the blog title comes from, don't ask coz no-one really knows where it came from but it's very fitting for the memories of the last few weeks! Had some great nites out with this gang, especially Gary's birthday...I'm sure we listened to Ministry of Sound Annual at least 5 times over before we went out that nite. We also had some real fun nites in too, involving goon usually and maybe a game of Kings or two!!! Aw
Blue Mountains
Tizzana Vineyard I wana go back just talkin about it 😞!
So I've only got my birthday to fill you all in on now....and that could be hard, well after 9pm it's called putting the jigsaw together hehe! We decided that as I have a January birthday which usually means rain, snow, cold genrally I had to have a bbq in the park to mark the occasion. Beer, wine, bbq, cricket, the perfect birthday with all my favourite people from Sydney! Beautiful day and thoroughly enjoyed by all, maybe by me a little too much as it was me wanting to stay at the park until after sunset that resulted in failure to go to the cinema and therefore the alternative activity of Kings = uh oh!! I take all responsibility, although I should say there were no objections from anyone else!! Had a fab day and nite though, wot a set of fotos!!
Aw and then it was time to leave Sydney, pack up and get the dreaded 12 hour nite bus to Melbourne. Have had 2 of the most memorable months of my life in Sydney, couldn't have asked for a better time! Will miss it and everyone
Blue Mountains
