Big Banana - Coffs Harbour

First of the Big things!
Had two nice days in Coffs Harbour. We arrived on the 16th late afternoon and went out for dinner. It seemed particularly hot and humid yesterday so we spent quite a large part of the day in a nice air conditioned shopping mall! Got a new bikini though. We visited the Big Banana later on. Australia has a lot of "big" objects around the country but the Big Banana was the first one that started the trend. They have a banana-themed gift shop and various rides and attractions and a video telling you all about the local banana plantations. Went into the town in the evening to celebrate St Patricks day. It seems a big deal out here so we went to a huge pub/club for a dance. This morning was much cooler and has been drizzling but made it better for our walk to Muttonbird Island. This is joined to the end of Coffs harbour and has a large colony of nesting Muttonbirds. Had fish and chips (an enjoyably regular occurance!) before getting the bus to Byron Bay this evening.

Hopefully many more countries on my map will go red soon! ... full info

'Big'
Hello from Italy! Australia (and NZ) looks great. I believe the 'big things' were created as a distraction for motorists who would often drive for hours or even days across the same kind of landscape and sometimes fall asleep because of it. What other big things have you found? Great photos!
