After renting a Toyota Camry at the Brisbane Airport, we were fortunate enough to have a lovely stopover in Byron Bay where Australian friends of ours had a place there ready for us to stay in. We stayed there for 2 restful days and enjoyed this small community. Of special interest was the farmers' market on Thursday where we bought local tomatoes and avocadoes. Had a cappuchino made from locally grown coffee and tasted freshly pressed cane juice.
We also drove to nearby Ballina where Robin had a 1/2 hour hang-gliding experience, hovering over the beach in ideal wind conditions.
