Hippo - Face to Face

The last day before we leave for Hawaii and the seventh day of theme parks in a row! The girls wanted to see San Diego Zoo so we packed up the room left the luggage with the Concierge and once more headed down to San Diego. Its only a half hour drive and the freeway run was good. Arriving once more as the gates were opening we headed to the monkeys but not before hiring a stroller for Greta. Again a good move as her little legs had done well up until now keeping up but the last two days had been more and more difficult for her.

San Diego Zoo is quite hilly but well laid out. Madi really wanted to see the Hippo and Lola the Panda so this was the general direction we went. We could only afford around two and a half hours there cos of the drive back to LA but in the end I think we got to see all that we wanted to see. As far as Zoo’s go it was a good one and better than Taronga Zoo in Sydney which ironically costs more than the San Diego

We had to get back to the hotel and collect our luggage and then drive into LAX to stay at the Sheraton in the Airport before the flight tomorrow. The hire car needed to be back before 5.00pm and it was around a one and a half hour drive assuming traffic was kind to us. Whether it was because people simply got out of the way of my big truck or whether it was the Tom Tom app, we made good time. The $60 invested in this App was well worth the money and got us to where we wanted to go every time.

So now we sit in the airport Sheraton. As I look out my window I can see planes landing into LAX every couple of minutes. Its time for a beer - to celebrate the end of the driving legs of the US adventure...like i needed an excuse....
