Book Censorship

1) Some of the main reasons books were banned were because they “glorified sex, drinking, and drugs”. They also were considered soft- pornography and had inappropriate language

2) I agree with the reasons to some extent because some of the material isn’t appropriate for kids in grade school; however, I think it s fine for teens in high school to read. Teens are exposed to these topics almost everyday in TV shows, ads, magazines, the Internet and with peers. It wouldn’t make sense to shield them from something they have exposure to already.

3) I think the parents and the teachers influence what is to be taught. The parents are major influencers because if they don’t like what is being taught then they could protest and that makes the school look bad. I also think that the teacher’s beliefs as to what would help the students influence what is taught as well because it is the teacher’s job to help he students learn the best way possible.

4) If someone wanted to fight against book censorship he or she could write a letter to a public official encouraging the preservation of freedom to read. <!--EndFragment-->
