8th & 9th June, 2009. Travel across Montana
Well we have had enough of that cold weather in Wyoming, so out came the maps and we started heading for the sun. Not much to report as we have spent a lot of the time in the Chevy driving.
Destination for the 8th was Bozeman, travelled up from Cody through rain and cold, lunching at Big Timber, initially we were going to stay there but decided to move on and get closer to the sun. Arrived at Bozeman at around 3pm, so had a walk around the town - they had a pretty big gas explosion on March 9th, that destroyed part of the historical area of downtown, and sadly took a life. Took out the best part of half a block, luckily it happened early morning.. More rain and off to bed.
Today we headed off early stopping at a pawn shop (one that you sell/buy things) in Bozeman that we found last night, what a lot of dreamers in there, didn't even bother to say hello to us and their prices were over the top - I'll bet they didn't pay much for the stuff either. Both yesterday
and today we saw sheep, up until now we have only seen about 20 sheep, but over these two days, perhaps another 200 - not like home. Anyway lunch at Drummond and then onto Missoula where we are staying at another KOA (far better priced than that rip off KOA in Cody). Went for a walk and had dinner out, very nice.
Now some info on the pictures I am about to post - The long skinny houses you see are mobile homes from days past, on some they still have the draw bars attached. You see a lot of these around in either Camp sites or set up in villages, people add their own touches - porches, gardens, skirting etc and they remain there for ever and a day. A lot of camps provide permanent camp sites for owners and their trailers, much more prevalent than in NZ.
