Pier 39 has been the home for a large group of seal lions for the past 22 years. They make a heck of a noise!

One of the best experiences a person can have is on a cable car. I was lucky enough to get a seat right in the front. The drivers are very humourous which just adds to the pleasure.

San Francisco is known for the steepness of it's streets and it is hard to imagine what life must be like here. A person would certainly develop strong legs.

I was really impressed by Moterey it is a very clean, friendly city - as well as being beautiful

The aquarium is the largest in California and was amazing. I had NO idea there were so many varieties of sea horses.

There was also a large exhibit of jelly fish. Some of them as small as a quarter (5 pence in England or 20 cents in S.A.)

Monterey was home to a large number of sardine canneries. When the down turn in the industry occurred the old canneries were turned into restaurants, hotels, speciality shops, etc.

I drove down the coast to Big Sur. Such a beautiful drive - the California coast is certainly hard to beat!

Imagine living in this cliff house. Nice when the weather is good, but not great if the wind is coming off the ocean the way it frequently does.
