How has the Columbian Exchange& Triangle Trade affected current day foods & culture?

The Columbian Excahnge has affected current day foods and culture because without Europe, we wouldnt have things such as livestock for dairy products and meat. Our iets wouldnt be as balanced as they are.

1. What are the origins of this recipe?




• Boil cut-up sweet potatoes or bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) whole sweet potatoes until tender.
• In a frying pan, melt the butter and brown sugar together until bubbly. Add the orange juice and stir until smooth. Add the cut-up sweet potatoes and cook slowly, turning occasionally until the sweet potatoes are caramelized, about 20 minutes. If syrup is too thin, add a bit more brown sugar



1. What are the origins of this recipe? This recipe is from down south Mississippi where my grandpa was born.



2. Does your family in someway identify with this recipe? Why or why not? Yes, because every thanksgiving my family always makes candied yams. It just has to be added to the dinner.



3. Do you think people should have access to a variety of foods? Why or why not? Absolutely, I do think that people should be able to have access to a variety of foods so they can know what is out there in the world that they are missing



4. In general, do you think food is an important aspect of one’s culture? Explain. I think food makes up 50%!o(MISSING)f one's culture because it is what defines us. For my culture, the food is soul food. Everyone knows that African American people love soul food. Soul food has been passed down in my family from generation to generation. I think it is what defines us blacks.
