From Santa Barbara, we headed straight for Beverley Hills to go to a party of a friend of Katy's. We ended up in one of the poshest areas of the city for our first few hours. We stayed at the pool/bbq party for most of the afternoon, taking the time to relax and enjoy our surroundings. While there, we met a group of guys living in West Hollywood having a party later that night. They invited us to come, but we still did not figure out where we are staying that night....telling them this, they offered their couch. A couple hours later we were there, waking up the next morning to find a parking ticket on our car. We didnt take any pictures the first day.
*We decided to have breakfast in West Hollywood, at a place our guide recommended for its rock status, Duke's Coffee. After receiving our bill we began looking forward to the diners we would find on the road, as every little thing, like cream cheese for the bagel, was added to the bill in a discreetly. After finishing we drove up as far as we could to the Hollywood sign, took some photos and then
continued to Hollywood Blvd. Given it was the weekend, the place was crazy with tourists. That, combined with the heat, made us want to get around the block and see all the sites as quickly as possible. Taking the obligatory photos, we left, heading back to Beverley Hills to check out the homes in the daylight. Then we looked up the address for the Playboy mansion to try and get a glimpse. Once we got there, a limo rolled up and out popped a young woman with blonde hair, walking towards the intercom of the gate. Katy asked her if we were at the right place and where she was from. She told us we were and that it was just awesome (and she was from San Diego). After, Can just had to have a couple shots in front of the place, so we took a couple, with her in the background calling in. After this excitement we headed towards Muscle Beach to try and see the buff guys working out. This place was also a madhouse, so we parked the car in a random alley and took turns watching the car while the other ran down to check out
the scene and take photos.
*All LA-ed out, we decided to drive towards Orange County, Irvine, CA, where Katy's uncle lives, about 45 minutes away. When we arrived he took us out to Laguna to see the sites of reality tv, bought us fish tacos, and showed us a couple of the best views of the Pacific. We went back to his place to sleep, having some wine and cheese before bed.
*We had a slow start the next morning, combating Katy's uncle's dog, a large labrador retriever who wanted to snuggle. We left the apartment and met her uncle at his store, took a quick tour and bought some wine for Vegas and then had a quick lunch at the In N Out Burger nearby, which supposedly is the most popular on the West Coast. There we met a friendly Australian woman who took our picture and became the 3rd person in 2 days to ask Can if hes Brazilian.
