Yellowstone - snowed last night
6th June, 2009 Yellowstone to Cody, Wyoming.

Freezing last night and just down the road the reason why, yes it had snowed again, so much for the spring (apparently it can snow here any time).
Out of the park for the last time and still no bears, but thats life. Coming out of the park you go over Sylvan Pass, 8530ft, plenty of snow up there, and then down out through a long winding road, had to take it easy with the RV on the back wanting to push us down the hill. Twenty six miles and out of the park, and another 53 to Cody (yes they named this town after our grandson as well, only thing is they couldn't spell Cody, our grandson is spelt Kody). Nice trip out and we stopped at the Buffalo Bill National park and Dam - tallest Dam in the world (apparently), provides power and irrigation for the towns down below.
Booked into the Absaroka Bay RV Park, nice park and reasonably priced at $27.25 per night, the local KOA is $50.95 + tax - rip off.
Took a ride into town after lunch and visited some of the local stores, plus caught

Heading towards Synvan Pass, lots of snow
up on our grocery shopping.
5.30pm saw us lined up with another 100 or so people ready to watch the shoot out in front of the Irma Hotel, Buffalo Bill Cody once owned this hotel and the current owner is a mirror image of him. Shoot out was good and of course the baddies took the bullets, as they should. The heroes were the drunk deputy and the local barmaid.
Then it was off to the Cody Rodeo, what a night, freezing cold and we were wearing thermals, coats hats etc. Great entertainment and well organised, the Rodeo's are run for three months 7 nights a week, from June 1st. We got to sit above the bucking shutes, great spot as I could watch all the saddling and preparing of the Bulls and horses, and Sam got to perve on the cowboys. Anyway went home with a temperature of 38F ie 4C, dinner at Burger King - they still can't get my order right so they have lost another customer.
