There was more than enough munchies in our picnic for four people. The wine disappeared rather quickly however.
A beautiful day sent us on a road trip in search of some wine and beer. We begged a couple of friends to go with us, packed up and headed out. Our first stop was Staller Estate Vineyard and Winery W8896 County Hwy A in Delavan Wisconsin. (technically, just south of Richmond, Wisconsin). This is a cute little mom and pop operation that is fairly new to the winery business. Drive around the not-in-operation barn for a small parking area and you will see the retail shop and gazebo, still brand spankin' new. A few of the grape vines are nearby. They offer wine tasting for you to choose a couple of favorites. Another bonus, check out the changing Wisconsin cheese offerings. You can also order a "picnic platter" made up for you, including your cheese choice, salami, fresh bread, nuts and cranberries. We chose a bottle of wine from our list, and they offered to un-cork it for us and brought out some wine glasses for us as well. You could choose to enjoy the gazebo as we did, or check out the picnic tables under the vines or the patio out back in the sunshine. We chose the Morel

The boys both like the dark creamy beer, but there is plenty of selections for any kind of beer lover, and some really great soda selections on tap too.
and Leek cheese with our picnic platter, and a bottle of the "Lady in Red" wine.

Next we were off to nearby Lake Geneva, Wisconsin in search of beer. There is a brewery in Lake Geneva, however they don't seem to be able to sell any of their beers there yet. Humpf. So we landed at Sprecher's at 111 Center St. in Lake Geneva. Not technically a brewery here, they do brew their own beer in Milwaukee. In addition to a nice selection of beers, they have a full range of specialty sodas too - famous for their root beer and cream soda on tap. The boys got grouchy when they didn't have any Irish Stout or Russian Dark left, but were pacified by a good dark Ale. The homemade pretzels with a choice of three mustards was pretty yummy too.
