They say what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas or what happens in Vegas stays with you for the rest of your life and in our case that is true. On our last day in Vegas we decided to visit a chapel and get married as weighing up the $120 cost of doing it there and then to the cost of doing it back home it seemed like a really good thing to do. So congratulations are needed for newly Mr and Mrs Stephenson who were married at 3.30pm on Thursday 10th November 2011 in Cupid's Wedding Chapel, Las Vegas, Navada. We both wore jeans and our waitnesses were a couple from Utah who had just won over $20,000 in a casino on one of the machines and decided to get married.
Right, now that the big news is out of the way we'll tell a little of what Vegas was actually like...the answer, bloody expensive! The hotel we stayed in was awesome and really cheap, but that's because they wanted us to spend all of our money in their casino, of course they did. The casinos were good and bad to us as we gambled the little money that we
did have. We budgeted to have $100 each to gamble while there. When Matt won, Kerry lost and then when Kerry won, Matt lost so we didn't actually have much luck together. We also had the problem where when we spent time in the casinos in the other hotels we had no luck and lost all our money. We then had to go and gamble at the casino in the hotel where we were staying and win it all back, so no big money wins for us ( you can imagine how jealous we were of the couple in the chapel ).
Everyone told us that the easiest way to win money in Vegas was to play on a Craps table. Well craps = a load of crap !! We lost most of our money playing this stupid game before heading to the trusted roulette table to win it all back which is what we played on pretty much the whole time we were in Vegas. We did try our luck on some machines, but again lost a lot playing so quickly give these up too. Kerry played a game of Black Jack and won about $100 but quit while
she was ahead and didn't try her luck again. All in all we didn't leave millionnaires but were able to win enough to spend less than $15 a day while there which we thought was good enough for us.
We seen two shows in Vegas, V the variety show and the Lion King musical. The variety show had different types of acts but we enjoyed the host Wally, such a funny guy and great with balls and his mouth.... Wally Eastwood, youtube him. Then the Lion King was just incredible, they walked an elephant through the audience (not a real one of course) the music, the singing, the dancing and the costumes were all fantastic. If you get the chance, pay the money to see it, it's worth every penny.
Walking up and down the strip took a long time. We got of the bus at the north and had to walk the 4 miles down the strip to where we were staying with our backpacks on, so heading back to the bus station on the way back, we were glad to have a little rest at the chapel. We walked through almost all of the big hotels, all of
which have casinos on the ground floor and then shopping centres through the hotel aswel, shopping centres the size of Eldon Square, huge. You have rivers, aquariums, rollarcoasters, pirate ships and rain forest resturants all under the big hotels. We seen the pirate ship battle outside of the Treasure Island hotel, The fountains outside of the Bellagio and a volcano erupt outside of the Marage. We also walked through the MGM Grand, New York New York, Caesars Palace and the Flamingo (the first Hotel/Casino in Vegas) and visited the freemont street lighting show.
We could have spent so much money in Vegas and if we had have been lucky could have won a lot but could have lost a lot if we had have been unlucky. But we went, we seen, we got married so vegas will always be remembered.
Sending Love
Matt and Kerry
