"The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of His hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language where their voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world"
Psalm 19:1-4
Water and ice, extreme temperatures, and underground salt movement are responsible for the sculptured rock scenery of Arches National Park. Over 2,000 arches have been cataloged, ranging in size from a 3ft. opening to the longest, Landscape arch, measuring 306ft. base to base.
Beside all the arches, towering spires, pinnacles and balanced rocks add to this place of scenic spectacles. The park lies atop an underground salt bed deposited across the Colorado valley thousands of years ago.
Visitors come to experience the grandeur of this place not only from America, but from many countries all over the world. As we walked the trails it was interesting to hear all the foreign languages spoken as we passed people. And almost all were carrying
some kind of photographic equipment from cameras with long lenses to iPads and iPhones. We met an interesting young man from Denmark who marveled at the vastness of the country. He was also carrying a Nikon camera which led to an interesting conversation. When we met up again in the parking lot, we learned that he also had a camera set up on the front hood of his rental car to capture shots along the way. I didn't think to ask him how he keeps the bugs off the lens of the camera. You should see the front of our truck!!We also met up with a couple of young Australian guys who were doing some rock climbing in the park. You are not allowed to climb or walk on the Arches, but there are other places where rock climbing is allowed. I recognized the accent right away!! Learned they were from Perth but were also very familiar with Vancouver, BC, especially the Squamish area where they have done some climbing!!
So I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

And gorgeous blue skies too!
(We have had a little rain, actually quite a lot along with gray skies.) Great pictures! Keep on exploring.
