ALAMO
Meg, Me, and Becca Rain standing outside the ALAMO!!! Today we had such an amazing day!!! This afternoon we visited the ALAMO and RIVERWALK in downtown San Antonio, and this evening we went to the Tejas Texas Rodeo, which was one of the most fun times of my life!!!!
The gardens around the ALAMO were open, so we were able to walk through and learn about the history of the ALAMO. The architecture is so meticulous. “Remember the Alamo” I would share all the “history” I learned about the Alamo, but I am giving you homework to look it up yourself! HA. However, I will say….it would be a really cute place to have a wedding!!!
The RIVERWALK….. is so romantic!!! I don’t even have words to explain the adorable atmosphere of this “city beneath the city.” The riverboat rides, the quaint set up, restaurant after restaurant, yummmmmy Mexican food (“Café Ole” to be specific), unique shops, the lush greenery, and a ton of interesting people always makes for a great time!! In fact, wanna know something special about the RIVERWALK???? Becca Rain and Keith got engaged years back on one of the bridges!!! So I was finally able to see the exact spot!!! I
RIVERWALK
San Antonio's RIVERWALK... soooo romantic!!! recommend every couple make the San Antonio RIVERWALK a weekend getaway, and eat outside at Café Ole!!!! I can’t wait to go back with my husband someday!!!!
Okay…now onto the TEJAS RODEO (every Saturday night)!!! Oh my GOODNESS was this a blast! I have never felt SO country in my ENTIRE life!! It was literally in the middle of NOWHERE in “hill country.” Thank goodness for the
horse in the sky” spotted by Becca Rain or we would have missed the driveway! I have seen a rodeo one other time in my life (in Texas 3 years ago) and I DID NOT breathe the WHOLE time because I couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing…Apparently I am totally comfortable watching rodeos now! This rodeo had so many different events! Bull riding of course, barrel racing, calf roping, and mutton busting.
The mutton busting was the cutest thing I have ever seen. If you don’t know what this is…it’s when little 4 and 5 year olds ride sheep, hold on for dear life to the hair around the sheep’s neck, and the sheep run around crazy trying to throw them off! I wish I could have gotten
TEJAS RODEO
just walkin' into the rodeo...we had no idea what we were walkin' into.... a picture of how excited these little kids were once they rode the sheep and got thrown off!
The calf roping event was sad. I was very impressed with the way the cowboys and cowgirls were able to rope the calves around the head and feet, however I felt really bad for the baby calves!!! They were so little and getting tied up so they couldn’t move! I felt bad for them! The highlight of this event was the 7 year old cowboy who was riding beside his father roping the calf. He was SO cute!!
Barrel racing looked like something I would be good at….. It was riding horses really fast in a pattern around barrels. Fastest score wins. I think I could be good at this. And it makes me want my own horse.
Bull Riding. These dudes are CRAZY!!! I love it!!!! Two of the guys were able to stay on for the 8 seconds. It is SO scary when the cowboys are thrown off…. The bulls are NOT nice to them! What a RUSH to watch this though..... I can't imagine what the cowboys are feeling!
After the rodeo,
Cowgirls @ heart
Meg and I watching the rodeo..... I wish I could have gotten some great pictures of the events, but they were all movin' toooooo fast that nothin' came out in focus!!! But our braids look cute right! :) they had a live country band and dancing under the Texas stars. It was a scene straight out of “Sweet Home Alabama!” White Christmas lights designated the dance floor area, cowboys and cowgirls in their getup, 2 stepping and waltzing, and deep southern songs! I think they were a bit shocked when a pack of us got out on the dance floor and line danced one of the fastest line dances we know….especially after they dedicated that particular country song to “any northerners who need to be southernized.” Haha. It was very funny.
This rodeo and dancin' under the stars was SO much fun, and I can NOT WAIT TO COME BACK TO TEXAS and go here again!!!!
