Austin's Skyline
My girlfriends and I having a picnic in the park, overlooking Austin's skyline..... ASHLEY’s BACK IN AUSTIN!!!!! We drove up an hour from San Antonio jamming to Lady Antebellum, with a picnic basket full of delicious food, on a mission to find a park that overlooked Austin’s skyline…. And look what we found!!!!!! ZILKER PARK!!! We didn’t actually even go into the ZILKER gardens; this was just on the outskirts….
We laid our blanket under a tree on a hill and had this breathtaking view of the city skyline…. We enjoyed the best pasta salad in the world, made by Becca Rain, and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches made by me!! There was a nice breeze blowing, the sun shining, it was about 100 degrees, and we watched butterfly after butterfly flutter bye……. Everything was so relaxing……except for the fire ants…… they attacked my right foot!!!! OUCH!!!!! I had bites all over, and it literally felt like my foot was on fire. I have never experienced that feeling before!
After our picnic we took a walk through the park and came across this little flower bed that was full of beautiful Monarch butterflies! We spent a few minutes, okay maybe a lot of minutes, taking pictures of these
Lookin' for a butterfly
me trying to get close enough to the 5 butterflies we found around these flowers...1 of them actually let me touch it's wings.... I hope I didn't injure it! beautiful creations. It was such a blessing to be able to get as close as we did, and see so many at once! Butterfly kisses from God……
We then proceeded to the river between the park and the city, where we sat on the river bank with our feet in the cool water……There were SOOOO many kayaks out on the river, I was totally jealous. I plan on coming back to AUSTIN to kayak that river…..anyone want to come??? As we were walking back through the park we met an ADORABLE little puppy named Lucy who apparently loves to chase butterflies more than a ball or Frisbee. Another butterfly kiss from God….
We then headed to South Congress street where we walked up and down visiting little candy shops, coffee shops, and boutiques. The candy shop was scrumptious…however…. they sold wayyyy toooo many kinds of candy cigarettes!! I told the girl at the counter to tell her manager that by selling these candy cigarettes they were influencing younger children to think smoking was cool. She rolled her eyes at me. I wonder why? I was simply standing up in a VERY POLITE way as a health
Butterfly Kisses
I was SOO pumpd when I snapped this picture! You have no idea how long it took to get 2 at once..... with God...anything is possible :) teacher…. for my students. DON’T JUDGE!!!!
The boutiques had such trendy clothing, however, nothing I could afford! We did go in this one store called “uncommon objects.” Very unique….very unique….very unique…. I don’t know what else to say about it…besides…where in the WORLD did they find all that junk, and WHY would anyone want to buy it?????
Austin is one of those cities that I would LOVE to live in, with stunning surroundings, SO MUCH to do, SO many things to see….. and countless butterflies to chase!!!
