River Walk
This is one of the many restuarants. The water was very muddy because it had rained and rained and rained the night and morning. Texas Too Too
Texas is too too pretty. Now I understand that Texans are not going to appreciate me saying Texas is “pretty.” After all, this is a cowboy state. But it is. San Antonio was a marvel; the San Jose Mission so well preserved and presented and the Alamo treated with such reverence. It was much smaller than I imagined, but the size had no affect on the feeling that there were spirits of great men gathered within those bullet pocked walls. You didn’t have to be told not to be loud in the Alamo; it’s a matter of respect; recognized, even by the children present.
While there, I purchased Michener’s Texas, probably the only Michener novel I missed along the way and I am looking forward to reading it.
I am posting photos of San Antonio, including River walk, the Alamo and San Jose Mission. I do have one bone to pick with you Texas - it is colder than a well diggers ass in the Klondike today. We are shaking and shivering. I wish I had mittens!
Lilly enjoyed her day of rest in the RV while we were out.
I promise Texas
The Alamo
Lots of people due to Spring Break, but we only waited about 40 minutes. that I will revert to your hard scrabble reputation in the next entry!
