Sorry, I’m way behind.
We are home and trying to get back to normal. Let me catch you up and then sum things up.

On Saturday, 15 Feb we sadly left the Grand Canyon NP
driving east and stopping at the viewpoints along the way. At Cameron we drove south to Flagstaff, where
we got on the familiar, but dreaded I-40 eastbound. We got as far as Holbrook, AZ, where we made
a stop at the petrified wood shop before checking in at OK RV Park.

On Sunday, 16 Feb we continued east on I-40 through Newey
(New Mexico) to Santa Rosa Lake State Park, just north of Santa Rosa, NM. It was a very pretty park, quiet and
peaceful.

Mon, 17 Feb. We
finished with Newey, crossed the panhandle of Texas and into Oklahoma. We had a nice tailwind most of the way, which
helped our gas mileage. We stopped at
Sayre, OK, at their city park, which was nice and cheap and easy to find.

Tues, 18 Feb. The
wind was still gusty, but on our side, which, combined with the bumpy OK road,
gave us a rough ride. We made it most of
the way across Oklahoma, stopping for the night at Lake Eufalia State Park,
another pretty state park.

Wed, 19 Feb. After
watching the weather forecast for home, we decided to boogey on home and beat
the bad weather. Kerry decided he would
rather risk hitting Memphis at rush hour than drive through in thunder
storms. It turned out to be an
uneventful drive, we just beat rush hour.
It was overcast all day, but the storms weren’t supposed to hit until
late night. Once we got home and started
unloading the camper, the drizzle started, but the heavy stuff did wait until
late.

We are happy to be home.
It was a wonderful trip and we thoroughly enjoyed it, but it is always
great to get home to our own house (shower, bed, toilet,) but most of all
family. I would list high spots of the
trip, but there are too many. The rough
roads are the usual complaint.

Here are the trip stats:

Total Miles traveled 7,129

States passed through 10

Nights away from home 41

Nights in campgrounds 35

Average cost/night in cg $19.23

Gallons of gas purchased 595.963

Average price/gallon $3.264

Thanks for joining us.

Next trip? Who knows.
