Hi there!! Remember us? It's the Jensens! We've been keeping the roads and the friendly skies busy, traveling from one end of the country and back.
First of all, we will post a few pictures of Lee and Julia's wedding. We published some pictures on facebook, but for those of you who haven't seen them there, here are a few for your enjoyment.
Here is an overview of the past month:
July 27: We flew to California to spend some time with family, as well as visit various congregations who support our work in Tanzania.
August 1: We drove to the San Francisco area and worshiped with the Airport congregation Sunday morning. George gave a presentation about our work for Bible class and then preached for the A.M. worship service. Airport has supported our family since George attended the East Tennessee School of Preaching and Missions, and we are so very grateful for our longstanding relationship with this congregation. George worked with this congregation for five years. We enjoyed a quick lunch with long time friends, Windell and Doris Fikes, and then drove to the Oceanview congregation in Pacifica and joined them for their afternoon service, where George
gave a presentation about our work. George preached for the Pacifica congregation for 8 years, so it was wonderful to see old friends in this congregation as well. We enjoyed the remainder of the afternoon/evening with George's sister and brother-in-law, Ray and Bonnie Cobb, and their family. The following day our family a few hours in San Francisco pretending like we were tourists. 😊
August 8: We visited with the Brentwood congregation. We also have long-time friends in this congregation, Barney and June Roe. Barney and June were members of the Pacifica congregation when we worked there, and so they've watched our children grow up. As always, the congregation fed us well after morning services.
August 14: The East Main congregation hosted a Ladies Day, and I presented two lessons for that occasion. Lindsey was also asked to speak about her life in Africa, and the ladies were very interested in what she had to say, evident by the many questions that followed.
August 15: We worshiped with the East Main congregation in Stockton, where my parents, as well as both of my brothers, Jared and Jason, and their families attend. George gave a presentation about the
work during the Bible class hour, and then preached for the morning worship. Jacob preached for the evening service.
August 16: We drove up to Angel's Camp. We spent a few days with George's brother Dan and his family, and then also with George's younger brother, Ronald, and his family. We were able to work in a day trip to Yosemite on the 17th. George taught Bible class for the Angel's Camp congregation on the 18th. On the 22nd he gave a presentation about our work for the Bible class hour, then preached for their morning and afternoon services. We then made our way back to Stockton and worshiped Sunday evening with the East Main congregation.
August 24: We flew back to Oklahoma and were able to spend the night with Julia and Lee. It was wonderful to see them again, even though it was much too short.
After lunch on
August 25 we hit the road again, stopping in Muskogee, OK, where George had an appointment to give a presentation about our work to the East Side congregation. We appreciated the hospitality of Ed and Darlene Rogers, who served us supper. We had made arrangements to
meet some folks we've become acquainted with on facebook - Jeremy and Erynn Sprouse. We met at Braum's and enjoyed some treats while visiting, and then put in a little more driving time before stopping for the night.
This evening we find ourselves in Mt. Juliet, TN, catching a few hours of rest before we head on to Sevierville, TN tomorrow. We are headed to Polishing the Pulpit, which will be the first time for our family to attend. We are looking forward to being spiritually refreshed over the next week. We know that many of you will be traveling there as well, and we pray for your safety.
Our special thanks to Ronald and Jennifer Jensen, who provided us the use of a van during our stay in California. Also, we are very appreciative to the North MacArthur congregation, who has generously provided a rental van for our use during these last six weeks of our travels. The use of these vehicles have helped relieve what would have been a huge financial burden, and so we say THANK YOU!
In Christian Love,
Joy
