John C. BreedenJohn C. BreedenJohn C. Breeden

Finally found John C. at Big Creek Cemetery.
We slept late. The change to daylight savings time and Eastern time on the same day has our internal clocks confused. We ate breakfast at the Dinner Bell - buffet-style. Went to Madisonville Library. Found a record of a pauper burial for Elizabeth Raper in 1871. Record was at the courthouse (more on that later!). Kay found a deed by John Breeden in 1857 and the deed of the heirs of Abraham S. Duff that mentioned Malinda and George Moore. Back to the courthouse for Elizabeth's record but no one was able to get into Lynn McConkey's office. She's the county genealogist and is out sick. We went across the street to re-group and had coffee and blackberry cobbler at Donna's Cafe. Betty declined the ice cream. Kay called Sarah Crowder and got directions to John Breeden's grave. We decided to give Big Creek another try. Found John C. and both wives buried there. Kay decided to drive down Niles Ferry Rd. to find Newt Breeden's place. He was John C.'s son by his 2nd wife. Sarah had told her that Newt's grandson, Calvin "C.B." had died in a tractor accident last year. We pulled up in the drive and met

Met cousins Spencer and Nelda Breeden.
C.B.'s brother, wife and son-in-law. They were really nice. Even C.B.'s brother Spencer, the movie star. Betty took several pictures of the cousins. Left the Breedens and went to the Dinner Bell. Dede Harrill and Jerry Snider met us there. Jerry brought his grand-daughter, Julia. We had a good time. Got back to the room and packed. Read email & went to bed. A more productive day than Monday.
