historical info Trailhead: In Titusville follow signs for the Drake Well Museum OR Allen Street near Bank Street OR GPS: 41.621126 -79.649378 In OIL CITY: at Oil Creek State park OR GPS: 41.506730 -79649378. This trail is on a former rail bed that was used to ship out oil from the newly discovered field at Titusville. George Drake struck oil in 1859. This is a very pleasant trail to ride on a hot summer day. I was there on a cloudy day, but the trail is about 90%!i(MISSING)n shade from large trees. You can tell that very little sun falls on the trail since the asphalt trail has a LOT of moss growing on it.
The trail follows Oil Creek, and you are always within view. The creek is far below so you get some nice vistas. There are 3 covered areas spaced out along the way. They look like they are more for cross country skiers but nonetheless would provide shelter in a rain. There are many benches and some table all along the way. About ½ way there are some porta potties.
