Getting ready for the Canyonland IV MTFCI Tour, in Kanab, Ut. I'm a last minute kind of a guy, so I have until July 9th,2013 to get our 1913 Model T Ford ready for 7,000 to 8,000 mile round trip. I guess some of us work better under pressure. Checked the rear axle bearing sleeves for starters and found the axles were from the bad batch unheat treated axle shafts about 4-5 years ago. I called in my main Model T mechanic, Ernie Spittler and the Ruxtell rear had to be completely disassembled to replace the 2 axles & the 2 bearing sleeves. Working parts of 3 days the Ruxtell rear is together and back under car. The Rocky Mt brake lining had to be replaced, last year I bought a brake lining, riveting & brake shoe machine so I got to use it for the first time. I had bought a set of 5 McLaren wheels & the spare tire carrier. The wheels were powder coated gloss black. Had to find 3 rear Model T hubs & 2 front hubs for mounting the new McLaren wire wheels. Hubs had to be sandblasted and painted. The wheels are now mounted and the spare tire carrier was mounted today (next problem) The rear tail light & the license plate had to be removed to mount the spare wheel to carrier. Tomorrow I have to figure a way to mount the license plate so it will be visible, the tail light will have to stay home and miss the trip. The front shackles have to be removed to grease them. Our trip itinerary is complete and it will be posted as we travel. The LORD willing and the CREE (indians) don't rise we will complete this trip of our life time.
