Our days are pretty predictable. We get up and go through the normal morning routine. What used to take 60 minutes now takes 90. We divide the day up into 8 sections and rotate through the RV twice to make sure we all end up with the same kms and then we get to an RV Park, do washing, cooking and communicating and then hit the sack ready to do it all over again. So what could possibly have happened today that was any different. The first section this morning took in the magnificent camp area that we stayed in. It had a massive lake in the middle and catered to many recreational needs. It was empty last night but they said it would be packed in a week when the holidays start. We had a detour on our route. It said no access. We thought we'd try out luck. When we got there there was a trench being cut across the road. We did however find a bypass through the adjoining airport. Now when I say a bypass I mean we drove onto the Tarmac and past the planes to get around the detour. All good and we were on
our way. As we are getting further east, there are many more towns and roads. Navigating is getting much harder. We were a little perturbed to see Jeff driving back towards us in the RV at one stage. That indicates a wrong turn. We asked a local for directions to Blanchester and he said turn left, you can't miss it. We turned left and started riding and Jeff in the RV went by. When we got to Blanchester Jeff was nowhere to be seen. We headed east onto the next town. After another 10kms we thought we better call him. Apparently Jeff still hadn't gotten to Blanchester, even though he went past us. My theory is he was abducted by aliens, probed and returned to earth. He says he made (another) wrong turn. I'll let you be the judge. We reached our second detour of the day at Leesburg. It said road closed in 4 miles, Locals only. I decided to take the RV down the detour while the boys headed on, you can always get past a detour on a bike. My detour took me way out of town. I got caught behind a massive agricultural machine driving on
the road at about 40km/hr for 10 kms. I thought the boys would be way ahead of me and I had no idea where I was coming out. As it turned out, I ended up in Greenfield while the boys had had an adventure. As it happens, bikes can't walk over a demolished bridge, which is why the detour was in place. Not to be outdone our intrepid cyclists decided to wade across the thigh high stream, bikes hoisted above their shoulders to get to the other side. Thankfully that was the last detour for the day The day ended with some quite steep hills and another medical emergency. This time for a small ground hog that had been hit on the road. Dave scooped him up and handed him over to a couple who had also stopped. They were taking the little fella of to an animal rescue shelter. So just like every other day. So as you see, all our days are pretty much the same.
