New York is a city known for its food - from roaming street trucks to elusive high-end restaurant reservations, traditional dishes flitting around this hub of immigration past and present and serving as the media backdrop in the lastest of culinary and gastronomic innovation. It seems almost sacrilegious that I've yet to write anything up about all the noshing one can do both in Manhattan and ... Read Full Entry

Not sure why there was a line there on this particular day, but there are usually plenty inside.

In the six minutes I was there taking photos for my project, I photographed six other people taking photos of the shop. Amazing.

I've done how many hours of research thinking about these things? Too many! But here they are ... looking lovely.

I must have gotten the wrong degree...
missing out on all that research! Congratulations on receiving your degree. Where are you off to next?

Thank you much!
We're in Kentucky at the moment, but doctoral proposals are going out. Fingers crossed, it will either be England, California, or back to the New York area; it all depends on advisers and funding.

How on earth do you get that into your mouth to take a bite, it's huge?! Wow, you have made us even more keen to get to NYC. We would probably have to continuously wear stretchy pants though and would end up putting on a few kilos in weight if this blog is anything to go by!

Ha - I think there is a photo of Andras attempting a bite somewhere on there. Not easily, that's how! Definitely get to NYC - it's a great city, with too many great eats to list. If you ever head that way, let us know. If we're around, we'll have to do brunch in the East Village!

Hey Congratulations! You look good in purple.
We started out on a similar quest to sample a few pizza's for comparison but started at John's. Once we realized we had to order a whole pizza we sat back and relaxed. The comparisons never happened. As always love your perceptions and fantastic writing....looks like you had an interesting speaker. Excellent. Good luck in the future and looking forward to the next blog.

Thanks! I can see how John's would make a good one-stop-shop. Unfortunately I was in "mission mode" and we ended up toting two boxes of half-eaten pizzas around the city. Pizza was just never my go-to lunch; I usually got falafel sandwiches from Mamouns, but to leave NYC and not have an opinion about pizza ... I might not be let back!
