A long weekend in NYC, a chance to see Nicole, Jack/John, and Nat.

The highlight was seeing Doctor Atomic at the Met on Saturday night. Nicole had heard some time ago that the benefactors had bought 200 of the best seats in the house, for sale to the public on the day of the show, for $30 each. We got in line at around noon, tickets went on sale at 2pm. Since Nicole can't walk much (blown knee), we sat & chatted for 2 hours, which we would have done anyway (probably in a park or somewhere other than sitting on the ground at Lincoln Center). Weather held up. Got our tickets, Row K (11th back), center. Awesome $220 seats!

How was the opera? These guys will do a better job telling you about it: There's also video of the opera on the link, so you can see for yourself. (But it won't give you the perspective of looking up to see the giant crystal chandaliers looming from the golden ceiling....)

Another weekend highlight: watching the marathon. Nicole had a great spot to watch from, between Mile 8 and 9, pretty tree lined street surrounded by lovely buildings in historic Fort Green/Clinton neighborhood in Brooklyn. The Clinton HS Band played Rocky theme song over and over! See video. Very inspiring.

Other high points: eating well, checking in on Nat's new urban/urbain lifestyle, meeting J's friendlies.

I do love NYC.

Tonight: flyout overnight from JFK to Heathrow.
