KB kickoff
Chilling at a concert Wow, where has the time gone? Sorry I haven’t posted anything for about a week. I have been having the time of my life here in Buffalo! Kyle, Krista, Kayla, and Kimberly came into town last weekend. I have had a blast running around with those guys. As some of you know, Kingdom Bound was this week. That went Sunday night through Wednesday night, and it was sooooooo much fun. We rode on lots of amusement park roller coasters, did some of the water park rides and pools, and went to quite a few concerts.
Sunday night we went on some roller coasters. Afterward we went to see Lincoln Brewster. I had seen him in concert when I was still in high school, but I think he has accomplished quite a bit in the time between now and then. He has an amazing voice, some cool stories, he is easy to listen too, and is just an all-around talented individual. Unfortunately it is difficult to take pictures during the show because you have to have special tickets to be able to sit right in front of the stage. Outside of the covered seated area at the main stage there is
storm
And the clouds are building up... a large sloped grassy area. We usually set the tarps and blankets there, and it is nice because there are huge tv screens showing the bands up close and the music does not blast your brains out from that distance.
After the first day a lot of the events kinda blend together. We went on more rides, including Superman which is a roller coaster that takes you 208 feet in the air and lets ‘er rip. That is one of the best rides in the park, but usually has the longest lines. Another one of our favorite rides was Mind Eraser, which is one of the best rides for how long the lines are. Some of the other bands we saw included 33Miles, Hawk Nelson, Thousand Foot Krutch, Skillet, Denver and the Mile High Orchestra, Third Day, Delirious, Newboys, and probably some others that I have forgotten.
One of the days that stands out to all of us is when we were waiting in line to ride Superman for the first time. That day one of the 2 sets of carts were broken, so they only had one set of cars running. This meant that the wait was
lovely crew
Walking around KB twice as long as normal. This it was pretty warm and very humid that day. After we waited in the line for about an hour it was almost time for us to get on the ride. There was a guy right beside us that had a small bandage on his calf, and it looked like he had a scab underneath that might have broken, and was bleeding down his leg into his sock. It wasn’t a serious injury, but there was some blood on his sock. They called in a medic to do some cleanup, and during that time a nearby girl saw the blood and passed out. She lost all color in her face, and once she became conscious again she was shaking and didn’t look too good. I think it was a combination of seeing blood and going so long without drinking water on a hot humid day. So since the medic was right there she took care of the girl right away. And a few minutes after this girl passed out there were several others that started feeling weak and had to sit down. It was like everyone was dropping like flies. I think there were about
eating lunch
The title says it all 5 or 6 people total that either passed out, were feeling weak, or were throwing up. By that time there were a few of the “higher ups” that showed up to see what was going on. That was a pretty interesting part of our day.
Ever since I arrived at the Eubank’s house in New York it has been fun hanging out with the Mast family. David and Gwen are wonderful hosts, and I have been taken care of very well! And the rest of the family is great too. The brothers and sisters and the in-laws do quite a bit together, which I think is very neat. I think I have mentioned it before, but I think it is cool that some families do so much together. I even met the Bishop’s that live in Boston that invited me to spend the night with them when I come through next weekend. How cool!
Today all 5 of us plus Leon went to Niagara Falls. Leon knows the area pretty well, so he was our personal tour guide. Niagara Falls was so much better with my friends! We went to the Canada side first, walked around, had lunch,
TFK concert
I felt old at this concert, but I like their music. went to watch glass blowing at a local business, watched a cool 4-d movie, and headed back to the US side. We went on the Cave of the Winds, which was pretty awesome. They give you ponchos and sandals for you to keep, and you get to take an elevator to the bottom of the falls. Out there you can walk around, and you can go right next to the falls where you definitely need the poncho to keep dry. We did not stay perfectly dry, but we did pretty well. Being next to the falls is like being on some of the heaviest rain you have ever experienced! After we came home we had dinner which included some famous buffalo wings that everyone here talks about. They are pretty good too!
Recently I have been doing some planning for the last portion of my trip. We need to leave Oregon and head to Phoenix on September 17, so that gives me a deadline to aim for. I have decided to cut out going to Phoenix and California, since I would be very rushed if I went that route. If I just head straight west from Kansas, it should
Superman
This is an amazing roller coaster! put me home a couple days before we head for Phoenix to sell pumpkins and Christmas trees. I won’t be extremely rushed to get home on time to leave again, but I don’t have more than a few extra days that I can just hang out if I have the time. I will just have to manage my time and travel plans fairly well to make it back in time. And of course I need to leave myself a couple extra days for unexpected events such as motorcycle problems or having to travel somewhere else unexpectedly.
Well that is probably enough writing for one day and describing my last week of traveling and experience. See the picture descriptions for more explanations. I know that pictures are always more interesting to look at. Thanks again for all your support while I am taking this trip. The Lord has really blessed me by allowing me to take this trip, and every day I think to myself how lucky I am to be here.
